Position Overview
Kiewit Nuclear Solutions is seeking an Electrical Design Intern for the Kansas City or Oak Ridge office. We are looking for ideal candidates to grow the Kiewit team by helping establish, maintain, and improve company standards and tools while also using these standards and tools to contribute to project success. Candidates shall be familiar with current drawing and technical tools, programs, and software with an understanding of design documentation creation and layouts. Candidates shall be capable of exhibiting flexibility in work assignments while maintaining a growth mindset and continuing to develop in their technical and professional career.

Location
This role is in Oak Ridge, TN or Lenexa, KS.
Responsibilities
- Report on project progress and issues to Lead Electrical Designers
- Apply engineering codes at national and local levels
- Develop and review 3D models and plan drawings for electrical deliverables
- Create schematics, one-line drawings, and concept sketches from engineering inputs
- Maintain and organize master drawing sets, revisions, and originals
- Complete as-built documentation using RFI forms, ECNs, and red-marked drawings
- Participate in project meetings and collaborate with design team members
- Check designs for consistency, safety, operability, and maintenance requirements
- Resolve comments from checked drawings and update electrical cable schedules
- Model electrical components from vendor submittals and electrical designs
- Support project development with miscellaneous technical tasks
Qualifications
- Pursuing an Associate’s, Vocational, or Bachelor’s degree in Design & Drafting Technology, Engineering Technology, Design, or a related field
- Experience with 3D programs such as MicroStation, AutoCAD, Revit, AutoCAD MEP, or Navisworks, and familiarity with the latest operating systems
- Ability to visualize and conceptualize in a 3D environment
- Proficient in email communication and electronic meeting requests, as well as spreadsheets, databases, and PDF software
- Capable of professionally representing Kiewit to owners, contractors, vendors, and external contacts
- Must be a US citizen with documentation for badge access
- Pass a security questionnaire and background check appropriate to position duties
