Position Overview
The Lead Estimator is a career-level professional that manages all aspects of the estimate from kickoff to turnover. All estimate disciplines rely on you for leadership and the Estimate Sponsor depends on you to be the expert on indirect costs and estimate details. You will work closely with the Estimate Sponsor to manage high-performing estimate teams. Your role is critical to make sure the Estimate Sponsor’s vision and strategic planning is passed to the team, so they estimate the job at the right cost. This position understands and owns the estimate throughout the process while following Kiewit’s estimating standards. The Lead Estimator has the opportunity to learn and understand other roles of Kiewit’s OGC business to continue their career development. The Lead Estimator will assist and support the Estimate Sponsor when presenting estimates to the executive leadership team during estimate reviews.

Location
This position is located in the Energy Corridor in the greater Houston, TX area. Responsibilities
• Coordinate with the Estimate Sponsor regarding the indirect costs of the estimate.
• Provide direction to the estimate team and assigning tasks and assisting with tasks as required
• Ensure the proper Kiewit estimating system template(s) are utilized for the estimate.
• Provide oversight of all information being entered into the Kiewit estimating system to ensure an accurate estimate.
• Responsible for ensuring that all engineering deliverables are produced, checked and issued to the estimate team on schedule.
• Responsible for coordination between the estimating disciplines and teams.
• Maintain the Staff and Equipment schedules as well as other indirect costs associated with the estimate.
• Maintain the Estimate Risks & Opportunities.
• Maintain the Estimate Clarifications & Exceptions.
• Responsible for ensuring that all estimate review books are completed and prepared for all reviews in accordance with the Kiewit estimating standards.
• Assist Lead Estimator Department Manager in developing and maintaining standard tools.
• Assist Lead Estimator Department Manager in developing any Departmental Initiatives.
• Travel to project sites to collect data, as required.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management with an emphasis in civil, mechanical or electrical engineering is preferred OR extensive and related work experience leading to a thorough understanding of the knowledge, skills, and abilities described above
• At least five years’ experience in a related role
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
• Knowledge and understanding of construction mean/methods
• Strong attention to detail; strong communication, interpersonal, leadership, and team-building skills
• Excellent negotiation skills
• Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office products (e.g., Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
• Developed organizational and time management skills
• Strong written and verbal communications skills
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
