Our rapidly growing oil and gas team, which includes structural, civil, piping, mechanical, process, process safety, electrical, instrument and control disciplines, is a multi-faceted and leading-edge district of Kiewit with best-in-class technical expertise focused on the EPCC delivery of complex and dynamic process facilities.

Location

This position is based out of our Energy Corridor Office in Houston, TX and typically requires less than 10 percent travel. Opportunities for flexible work are available. 

Responsibilities

•    Experience focused in site development engineering with strong technical background in general site civil design, drainage/detention systems, grading, underground utilities and roads/paving. 
•    Performs civil engineering calculations and designs under the general supervision of a senior civil engineer. Ability to perform assigned tasks with little to no direct daily supervision. 
•    Capable of performing complex hydrologic & hydraulic calculations to develop drainage and grading drawings. Can recognize, troubleshoot and resolve design constraints and issue.
•    Participate and perform detailed civil engineering computations and site designs including engineering analysis, feasibility studies, preparation of drawings and specifications, report writing, cost estimating for FEED, Detailed Design and EPC projects.
•    Clearly conveys messages and ideas.
•    Works collaboratively across disciplines and involves others in solving problems.
•    Initiates meetings with own team, other disciplines or internal customers for clarity on work. Works well with others to accomplish common goals and objectives
•    Follows through on commitments made to internal and external customers.
•    Able to manage multiple responsibilities and tasks concurrently.
•    Utilizes industry and company standards to design and engineer effectively and solves problems using well established scientific principles.
•    Develops small to mid-size projects or proposals.
•    Prepare and/or assist with quantity take-offs and construction cost estimates.
•    Works with and directs designers to develop engineering and design documents as needed for the project.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering minimum required.
• 4-10 year minimum relevant civil engineering experience in petrochemical, midstream, or LNG industry.
• Strong technical background in general site civil design, drainage systems, grading and roads/paving.
• Knowledgeable in multiple engineering design software. Strong AutoDesk Civil 3D with Storm & Sanitary Analysis (SSA) and HydroCad experience is a must.
• Familiar with latest national and design codes.  
• Licensed Professional Engineer with NCEES record preferable.
• Travel < 10% expected.
• Can provides guidance to less experienced engineers.
• Adjusts to varying demands of work and performs well.
• Works collaboratively across departments and involves others in solving problems. Initiates meetings within own team, other disciplines or internal customers for clarity on work.
• Supports project teams and departments in a positive and productive manner. Works well with other to accomplish common goals and objectives.
• Serves as point of contact for external or internal customers.
• Follows through on commitments made to internal and external customers.
• Able to manage multiple responsibilities with set expectations and meet deadlines.
• Able to specify actions to take when standards or contract requirements are not met.
