Position Overview
Kiewit is seeking a seasoned and technically proficient Corporate Quality Leader to spearhead the development and execution of a comprehensive, enterprise-wide audit and quality assurance program. This individual will be instrumental in driving a culture of quality across all engineering and construction operations, ensuring that Kiewit’s projects consistently meet or exceed internal standards, client expectations, and regulatory requirements.
This is a high-impact leadership role requiring deep technical expertise, strategic vision, and the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization.
District Overview
Kiewit’s Quality Group is a shared service that maintains and executes quality standards on projects across the company. Our principal quality objectives are to meet or exceed clients’ expectations and to eliminate rework by performing our work “right the first time.” We monitor our performance against these objectives and require continual improvement.
Location
We are open for this position to sit in either Houston TX or our offices in Lenexa KS.
Responsibilities
Audit Program Development & Oversight
• Design and implement a scalable, risk-based corporate audit program that aligns with Kiewit’s operational goals and quality objectives.
• Establish audit protocols, schedules, and performance metrics to evaluate compliance with internal standards, client specifications, and industry regulations.
• Lead the development of digital tools and dashboards to track audit findings, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Execution & Leadership of Audits
• Direct and conduct comprehensive audits across engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases.
• Coordinate with regional and project teams to ensure audits are executed effectively and findings are addressed in a timely manner.
• Facilitate root cause analysis and lead cross-functional teams in developing and implementing corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).
Quality Systems & Continuous Improvement
• Champion the standardization and continuous improvement of quality management systems (QMS) across all business units.
• Collaborate with operational leaders to integrate quality planning into project execution strategies from preconstruction through closeout.
• Monitor and analyze quality performance data to identify trends, systemic issues, and opportunities for improvement.
Technical Leadership & Mentorship
• Serve as a technical authority on quality-related matters, providing guidance on codes, standards, and best practices (e.g., ISO 9001, ASME, AWS, AISC).
• Mentor and develop regional and project-level quality professionals, fostering a high-performance culture and succession pipeline.
• Represent Kiewit in industry forums, client meetings, and regulatory engagements as a subject matter expert.
Reporting & Executive Communication
• Prepare and present regular reports to executive leadership on audit outcomes, quality performance, risk areas, and strategic initiatives.
• Support the development of corporate quality KPIs and ensure alignment with broader business objectives.

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical field (Master’s preferred).
• Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in quality management within the engineering or construction industry.
• Demonstrated success in developing and managing enterprise-level audit programs.
• Strong technical knowledge of construction methodologies, engineering principles, and quality systems.
• Professional certifications such as Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), or Project Management Professional (PMP) are highly desirable.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
• Willingness to travel to project sites and regional offices as needed.
