Position Overview

We are looking for an experienced Material Lead. The Material Lead will be responsible for collaborating with construction counterparts, expediters, and suppliers to manage material planning and logistics.  The Material Lead primary responsibility is to perform post expediting tasks in order to ensure purchased materials and engineered equipment meet project need-by dates and schedules per the Contract. The Material Lead will actively monitor the status of the orders and report delay early to project management to initiate mitigating actions. This also includes document expediting.

Responsibilities

  • Develop short‑ and long‑range material plans aligned with construction sequencing and milestones
  • Collaborate with procurement and expediting teams to support timely material receiving.
  • Communicate required delivery dates to suppliers and vendors
  • Coordinate material deliveries to match jobsite readiness and storage locations.
  • Contacts supplier frequently to obtain timely submission of engineering data
  • To monitor supplier progress to ensure materials and equipment purchased is delivered on time
  • Proactive surveillance of supplier progress
  • Read and understand fabrication schedules
  • To take the appropriate action with the supplier in the event of delays
  • Participate in kick-off and progress meetings
  • Coordinate with the responsible engineering, buyers, inspectors, logistics and material control

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Construction Management
  • 5+ years’ experience in material planning, supply chain, procurement, expediting, construction operations
  • Experience supporting large-scale construction projects
  • General understanding of all areas of procurement is desirable, including procurement execution, estimating, expediting, and site purchasing.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Power Point, Word, Excel) and general knowledge of database utilization
  • Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiative with strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships.   
  • Strong work ethic, willing to do what it takes to get the job done right the first time 
  • Passion for safety, with the ability to help us ensure that nobody gets hurt.
