Position Overview

We are seeking a Field Operations HR Specialist to join our high‑performing project team. In this critical on‑site role, you will serve as the primary HR partner for both craft and staff employees, working closely with construction leadership. You will oversee day‑to‑day human resources activities within a fast‑paced project environment, providing hands‑on generalist support while collaborating with our Centers of Excellence (COEs). This position offers the opportunity to directly influence project success, enhance employee engagement, and strengthen overall workforce effectiveness.

District Overview

Kiewit Power Constructors (KPC) provides direct-hire construction services for Power Generation utilizing a union craft force.  

Kiewit Power Constructors builds major EPC power plant and solar projects throughout North America. We offer integrated engineering, procurement, construction and startup service needs, specializing in gas and coal-fired power generation, coal retrofit and renewable energy.

This position is based out of Homer City, PA.  

Responsibilities

Collaborate closely with hiring managers to understand role requirements, team dynamics, and long-term project objectives.  
Lead the full recruitment lifecycle—including sourcing, screening, interviewing, and guiding candidates through each stage of the process.  
Negotiate offers thoughtfully, balancing candidate expectations with organizational goals to secure high quality talent.  
Stay current on talent acquisition innovations, leveraging emerging tools, technologies, and methodologies to enhance recruiting effectiveness.  
Strengthened employee engagement and leadership alignment by educating managers on 1HR cycles, delivering training, promoting wellness programs, gathering feedback, and supporting retention for craft and staff employees. 
Acted as the on‑site HR partner and key link to 1HR, managing the full craft employee lifecycle, ensuring compliance with project and labor requirements, supporting workforce planning, and participating in district meetings and recruiting activities. 
Reduced people-related risk by handling performance issues, investigations, complaints, and coaching; delivering frontline training; supporting crisis situations; and ensuring safety and HR compliance. 

Qualifications

 

Required 

3+ years of recruiting experience in a corporate or agency setting; engineering or construction recruiting strongly preferred. 
Knowledge of HR practices across benefits, employment, compensation, and employee relations. 
Excellent communication, customer service, and relationshipbuilding skills with employees and leaders. 
Ability to excel in a highvolume, fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.volume, fast-paced environment with shifting priorities. 
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information. 
High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). 
Familiarity with ATS and HRIS systems. 

Preferred 

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field. 
Experience supporting construction, engineering, or industrial field environments. 
Ability to influence across levels and work with diverse employee groups. 
Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to multitask effectively. 
Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
