Position Overview
As a Senior Safety Manager, you will manage our Health & Safety programs at the project level, driving a safety-oriented approach to work. Must be a self-starter, highly motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision. This position requires someone with the ability to quickly learn and understand various processes regarding our policies, procedures and software programs.
District Overview
Kiewit's South-Central District is one of Kiewit's leading infrastructure districts specializing in heavy civil, transportation, and water resource markets. Projects you could be working on could include mass grading, drainage, paving, utility and more. Although most of our work is regionally based in the south-central region of the United States, we also pursue various projects stretching across the United States. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about infrastructure and committed to the construction industry as opposed to design.
Location
This role will start on a large infrastructure project in Fort Worth, TX. Following the initial assignment in Fort Worth, TX, candidate must be willing to travel and relocate across the United States.
Responsibilities
• Managing the company health and safety programs at he project level, driving a safety-oriented approach to work.
• Compiling, analyzing, and interpreting occupational illness and accident statistical data at the project level; recommending process and product safety features that will reduce employee exposure to chemical, physical and biological work hazards.
• Routinely inspect the facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure safety regulation compliance.
• Routinely monitoring the workforce for unsafe behaviors and coach employees on the correct behaviors when observed
• Developing environmental health and safety training materials
• Utilize internal software to track and manage safety trainings
• Interpreting safety regulations for the project
• Coordinating and presenting safety trainings to support client requirements including new hire orientation, fall protection, confined spaces, lockout/tagout and repertory
• Interfacing with Occupational Safety and Health (OSHA) (Provincial or Federal) officials/inspectors in the event of a site visit
• Establish Safety Culture: Develop site-specific safety plans (SSS, IIP, HSP), execute LSA programs, and ensure training and orientation are delivered and documented.
• Field Presence: Spend most of the time in the field, actively engaging with crews, reviewing operations, and conducting safety assessments.
• Daily Safety Focus: Identify daily hazards, conduct audits, and ensure standard operating procedures are followed.
• Relationship Building: Build rapport with team members, be approachable, and serve as a learning resource.
• Implement and oversee the Project Safety Program including the development of site safety policies and procedures.
• Maintain strong communication with district and area managers and other safety professionals.
Qualifications
- Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or Industrial or equivalent degree/work experience•
- 8-10+ years' experience managing large infrastructure construction projects
- Demonstrated ability to manage all aspects of a safety program on projects of increasing complexity
- Knowledge of construction safety, current local and federal regulations, hazard recognition, record keeping and injury management skills
- Ability to carry out duties in varying environments including wide ranging weather conditions and terrain
- Knowledge of construction safety, current Federal and OSHA requirements
- Willingness to travel and relocate to project sites as needed.

- Professional certification in safety management (e.g., CSP, CHST, EM385) preferred.
- CPR/First Aid, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification and OSHA/MSHA instructor certifications are preferred.
- Bilingual in English & Spanish is preferred
