Position Overview

As a Quality Inspector, you will primarily have responsibility for inspections and tests pertaining to a specific scope of work such as welding, piping, structural concrete, civil, survey, geotechical mechanical, electrical, etc. You will also perform other duties as directed by his/her supervisor to meet project quality requirements. To maximize your effectiveness, you must develop a thorough understanding of the project scope and schedule as they relate to your specific assignment.  

District Overview

Kiewit's Southeast District is one of Kiewit's leading infrastructure districts specializing in heavy civil, transportation, and water resource markets. Projects you could be working on could include building bridges, airports, mass transit systems, canals, dams, pump stations or tunnels.  Although most of our work is regionally based in the southeast region of the United States, we also pursue various projects stretching across the east coast. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about infrastructure and committed to the construction industry instead of design.

Responsibilities


•    Provide system quality control support by conducting inspections and testing on various scopes of work as detailed in Position Overview electrical components.    
•    Support team members in their roles as a program focal point for quality control assurance, acting as a liaison with other functional departments.  
•    Develop a thorough understanding of the project scope, contract documents/specifications, and schedule as they relate to his/her specific assignment.     
•    Examine/inspect field conditions and identify problems, inaccuracies, and cost saving measures that arise or that may be encountered. Take corrective actions as needed.     
•    Assist with identifying and reporting rework and non-conforming issue through resolution. 
•    Review various project submittals for compliance with contract documents/specifications as well as communicate and implement with functional departments.
•    Assist supervisor in the completion and acceptance of daily reports required and reviewed by client. 

Qualifications

•    Self-starter with exceptional organization and interpersonal skills. 
•    Working knowledge of the specific trade of discipline as assigned, with associated special processes, inspection, and testing techniques.  
•    Working knowledge of construction industry codes relating to area of expertise (i.e. ACI, AWS, ASME, NEC, etc.). 
•    Associate degree in engineering technology or science plus four years’ experience in a related construction field (at least one of these years in a QA/QC position) or a high school graduate or equivalent (GED) plus four years’ experience in a related construction field (at least two of these years in a QA/QC position)
