Position Overview

As a Field Engineer II, you will play a significant role in planning, organizing, and implementing project engineering and project control tasks. This position requires excellent communication, attention to detail, and the ability to work well in a team environment.

District Overview

Kiewit's Southeast District specializes in heavy civil, transportation and water resource markets, and has played a significant role in building infrastructure throughout the fast-growing southeastern United States. Since the 1970s, we have built projects from Maryland to Florida and west to Louisiana. Our operations include highways, airports, mass transit, tunnels, water and wastewater facilities, dams and infrastructure work

Locations include: Port Saint Lucie, FL or Fort Lauderdale, FL

Responsibilities

  • Field Engineering:

    • Interpret drawings and specifications for field crews and craft supervision.
    • Perform quantity calculations and determine the percentage of completed/installed materials and work.
    • Assist in preparing work plans and work packages.
    • Conduct field surveying and work layout support.
    • Compile and process daily labor timesheets.
    • Prepare Job Hazard Analysis (JHA’s).
    • Participate in jobsite safety reviews and safety training.
    • Order and schedule material deliveries.
    • Plan, schedule, and coordinate work groups on the jobsite.
    • Supervise field operations.
  • Office Engineering:

    • Perform material takeoffs from drawings and specifications.
    • Conduct basic engineering calculations and technical drafting.
    • Gather and prepare data for submittals or transmittals.
    • Participate in preparing purchase orders and subcontracts.
    • Maintain project recordkeeping and correspondence functions.

Qualifications

•    Bachelor's degree in a construction-related field of engineering or equivalent experience and education.
•    At least 2 years of experience in the construction field.
•    Must have working knowledge and be able to direct the operations of at least these management systems: scheduling- CPM, unit man-hour performance, material control, estimating and subcontracts.
•    Experience with leadership and management of people, communication (verbal and written), planning and organization.

•    May work at various different locations and conditions may vary.
