Position Overview
As a Superintendent you will play a significant part in the success of Kiewit. You will function as a field supervisor and may have responsibility for multiple Foremen, and craft workers. You will be responsible for the organization, work methods, scheduling, cost control, conformity with drawings and specification, workmanship, and assignment of work to accomplish the execution of the work, either directly or through General Foreman or Foremen. You will also work to maintain positive working relationships with clients, architect/engineer, suppliers, subcontractors, and jobsite staff.
We are adding Superintendents to work on a major upgrade to I-80 with the construction of a new Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Facility that will increase inspection capacity while reducing traffic congestion. This is a $152M project with an estimated completion date of 2/2029.

District Overview
Kiewit’s Northern California District is one of Kiewit’s leading infrastructure districts specializing in various types of work in the heavy civil, power, transportation, and water resource markets. Although most of our work is regionally based in Northern California, we also pursue various projects across the west coast. Location
Location: This role will be based on-site at the project in Fairfield, CA.
Responsibilities
- Supervises field crews and mentors Field Engineers.
- Review and approve the composition of work crews.
- Manage contract administration (subcontractor/field management meeting for communication).
- Maintain good client relations
- Initiate and attend supplementary and regular meetings with clients for problem resolution and planning.
- Oversee and approve the weekly and monthly job cost updates
- Develop and implement a plan for project completion and turnover.
- Maintain project records as required.
- Ensure that all performance evaluations and completed in a timely fashion for direct reports.
- Recommend, where appropriate, organizational, policy and procedural or staff changes.
- Review and approve or reject promotions up to General Foremen.
Qualifications
- 6+ years' construction experience
- Ability to manage safe operations
- Ensure quality work
- Must be a self-starter, highly motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to quickly learn and understand various processes regarding Kiewit’s policies, procedures and software programs.
- Must be able to plan and schedule operations
- Ability to identify and resolve any problems that may arise.
- Excellent organizational, administrative, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong experience in Leadership, safety, negotiations, planning, and contract administration.

Base Compensation: $120,000/yr - $145,000/yr
(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
