Because of this and the flexibility in our geographical and technical capabilities, there is no shortage of work or opportunities.  We are adding a Land Survey Manager to our staff in Colorado to support the region  - focusing primarily on projects in Water/Wastewater and Transportation.  As a Land Survey Manager, you will play an integral role in establishing and maintaining methods for a safe, accurate and efficient Survey Department. You will have responsibilities over contractual requirements, design model review and field survey operations, and should plan to spend about 50% of your time in the field supporting new and existing projects.  You will be expected to work both in the field, overseeing survey crews/subcontractors as well as work in the office.  This is an addition to our staff to lead Survey Teams around the state of Colorado, and other states as we win other work.  We offer stability, versatile markets to work in, relocation and excellent benefits! 

 

District Overview

Kiewit’s Central District is one of our largest infrastructure districts specializing in heavy civil, structural concrete/bridge, water/wastewater, and transportation projects. We self-perform work such as mass grading, drainage, paving, utility and more - so be ready to get your hands dirty! While headquartered in Denver, Colorado, the majority of our work is concentrated in the Central and South-Central regions of the United States. We are looking for people committed to the construction industry rather than design.  

Location

This Survey Manager/Modeler will be based out of our DHO in Lone Tree, CO.

This position will have minimal travel up to 25%. 

 

Responsibilities

Contractual Requirements:
•    Includes knowing the PLS requirements for the project, what specific surveys are required for the design and construction, surveying for pay-quantities, as-builts, monumentation and layout.
Design Model Review:
•    Coordinate with the designer the types of files required for survey operations, conducted to ensure the accuracy of the files prior to being used for survey field calculations.
•    Establish regular meetings with the designer to review and plan for design survey requests and design model file progression.
Field Survey Operations:
•    Staffing of the survey team and ensure proper inventory of equipment.
•    Support new and existing projects with ordering, managing, and maintaining survey equipment.
•    Establish a project survey plan and outline specific field and office procedures.
•    Support new and existing project with survey crew needs and train individuals for proper use of equipment and survey principals.
•    Maintain the official set of plans for the survey team.
•    Execute and train for UAV top’s and drone imagery for multiple projects as well as training and advising project teams on the proper use of UAV technology.
•    Create and maintain a consolidated equipment tracking log and support setting standards for individual projects to track their surveying equipment.
•    Support the setup and purchase of machine control technology as well as troubleshooting issues related to machine control equipment.
 

Qualifications

•    Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction or Land Surveying preferred.
•    5 plus years' experience in Heavy Civil Construction 
•    Licensed by the State of Colorado in Land Surveying or licensed in another state and willing to obtain certification in Colorado.
•    Proficient computer knowledge including Trimble Business Center modeling software and GPS machine control equipment, Microstation (or similar modeling package (Geopak, Civil 3D) and Microsoft Suite is preferred
•    Experience will be heavily considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree
•    PLS is preferred.  
•    Dynamic thinker with the desire to lead, motivate and mentor teams
•    Self-starter with the ability to set standards of excellence in leadership, safety, quality and productivity
•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills
•    Strong work ethic with the ability to work individually and as a team
•    Committed to working safe and getting the job done right the first time
•    Experience taking a project from primary control to as-builts

Base Compensation: $94,563 - $141,845 
(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
