Position Overview
Under the general direction of the Construction Manager, the Training Superintendent will assist on the new Weld Training Department for the Unit 1 Small Modular Reactor at the Darlington site.

Location
The position will be based on our project in Darlington, ON. The successful candidate will be local to Darlington, Oshawa or surrounding areas, or willing to relocate.

Responsibilities
- Lead daily planning, supervision, and coordination of Weld Training Program to ensure the delivery of performance-improving training in a cost effective and engaging manner.
- Ensure all training requirements are identified and that curriculum for each training requirement meets the quality standards of both AKNP and the alliance project team.
- Collaborate with Weld Program Manager, Project Coordinators, Quality Control, Safety, and Engineering to assess the on-going weld training needs for the project; facilitate training needs analysis’ and apply continuous improvement opportunities to refine the delivery of training.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, alignment, and nuclear-grade execution
- Planning, scoping, cost estimating, scheduling, and documentation of overall training resources. including facilities, classrooms, and related infrastructure and logistics.
- Manage training department staff and conduct periodic performance assessments.
- Ensure the Project’s QA and EHS training requirements are met.
- Fiscal responsibility for budgets allocated to the group.
- Perform field observations to validate that the training being delivered reflects the way work activities are actually being performed
- Other duties as required or assigned.
- Ensure strict compliance with nuclear safety culture, human performance tools, and CSA standards
- Ensure immediate escalation of safety concerns, non-conformances, and quality issues.
- Conduct daily field walkdowns, toolbox talks, safe work plan reviews, and observations.
- Maintain accurate daily logs, reports, and construction progress updates as well as project schedules with respect to training and readiness for project execution.
- Provide mentorship, coaching, and performance management for training supervisors and trainers.
Qualifications
- General understanding of conventional welding processes (SMAW, GTAW, FCAW, Stud welding)
- General understanding of weld qualification flow (ie CWB W59 and ASME IX)
- 5+ years in a supervisory role, ideally on nuclear or power projects.
- Demonstrated ability to manage large crews (50+ employees) in complex environments.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational abilities.
- Deep understanding of safety-critical work, and quality requirements.
- Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and work packages.
- Competence in crew planning, time management, and resource allocation.
- Proactive problem-solving and conflict resolution in high-stakes environments.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop supervisors and foremen. #LI-IS1

Base Compensation: 120,000/yr - $140,000/yr
(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
