Position Overview
Kiewit is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the delivery of civil construction scope for the Reactor Building as part of a major nuclear infrastructure project. This role will be responsible for managing the execution of defined work segments within the Nuclear Island, including containment structures, equipment installation, reactor pressure vessel integration, and coordination with adjacent areas. This position supports the early phases of a Small Modular Reactor (SMR) project, including design validation, procurement, site preparation, and mobilization.

Location
The position will be based on our project in Darlington, ON. The successful candidate will be local to Darlington, Oshawa or surrounding areas, or willing to relocate.
Responsibilities
- Lead project execution in collaboration with alliance partners under an integrated contract model.
- Oversee planning and review of construction sequencing and constructability.
- Ensure alignment between design release packages and construction execution.
- Develop and implement recovery plans to address schedule performance issues.
- Monitor key project metrics (safety, quality, cost, schedule) for assigned scopes.
- Proactively manage risks and mitigation strategies across project teams.
- Identify and resolve resource constraints impacting planned work.
- Manage change processes in coordination with partners per project protocols.
- Ensure timely procurement and delivery of materials and services.
- Lead a cross-functional team across departments to drive project success.
- Implement readiness processes for design, procurement, manufacturing, and construction.
- Participate in planning meetings and readiness reviews.
- Conduct field tours and site safety inspections.
- Provide technical and commercial guidance to site teams.
- Review and approve requisitions, subcontracts, and invoices within authority limits.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across the organization.
- Manage performance of direct reports, including coaching, career development, and evaluations.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and code of conduct.
Qualifications
- Minimum 6 years of project management experience in a related role.
- 8+ years of experience in civil construction, with a focus on structural engineering.
- Master’s degree in a related field is an asset.
- PMP or P.Eng designation (or in progress) is an asset.
- Strong leadership and problem-solving skills, with experience in nuclear scope.
- Familiarity with INPO (Institute of Nuclear Power Operations) practices is preferred.
- Ability to manage sensitive matters professionally and confidentially.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Collaborative mindset with strong team coordination abilities.
- Deep understanding of project execution, financial operations, estimating, and employee relations.
