Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Quality Inspector to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil works and concrete, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to ensuring the highest standards of quality. This role involves inspecting and testing materials, overseeing construction processes, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and project specifications.

District Overview

Kiewit’s Quality Group is a shared service that maintains and executes quality standards on projects across the company. Our principal quality objectives are to meet or exceed clients’ expectations and to eliminate rework by performing our work “right the first time.” We monitor our performance against these objectives and require continual improvement. 

Location

This position will start on a project in Sherman TX.  Once this project is complete, candidates will be asked to travel around to various job sites in the gulf coast region, and perhaps the entire US.  Candidates who only want to work in Sherman will be considered. 

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough inspections of civil works and concrete structures to ensure compliance with project specifications, codes, and standards.
  • Perform material testing and analysis, including concrete strength tests, slump tests, and other relevant assessments.
  • Monitor construction activities to ensure adherence to quality control plans and procedures.
  • Identify and document any defects or non-conformities, and work with the construction team to implement corrective actions.
  • Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Maintain detailed inspection records and prepare comprehensive reports on findings.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to address quality-related issues and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and promote a culture of safety on the job site

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of experience in quality inspection, with a focus on civil works and concrete.
  • Certification from the American Concrete Institute (ACI) is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and industry standards.
  • Proficiency in using inspection tools and equipment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to various job sites as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Additional certifications in quality control or construction management.
  • Experience with large-scale construction projects.
  • Familiarity with construction management software and tools.
