Position Overview
Kiewit Infrastructure Engineer is seeking a Senior Traction Power Engineer to support the rapid growth of the rails transit systems section and projects around the country. The person will work under the direction of the Rail Electrification department manager, perform preliminary engineering and/or detail engineering design for traction power system for people mover, light rail, heavy rail, and commuter rails systems, develop engineering cost estimate to support company pursuits, mentor and train early career professionals, and provide leadership to engineering and CAD design staffs.

Location
This position is based out of our Chicago IL, Mclean VA or Houston TX location with opportunity to work a hybrid work schedule.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for developing Traction Power and/or Facility Electrical design and technical specifications from concept level to final detail-design level for rail and transit projects, including but not limited to MV and LV Distribution, AC and DC switchgear, electrical power and lighting systems, cable routing, lighting protection, Grounding, and EMC designs.
- Shall be able to perform Electrical Calculations and Studies using software such as ETAP, SKM, etc.
- Coordinate and interface with other disciplines, construction team, and clients during design and construction phases.
- Support technical proposal development and develop design cost estimate.
- Ensure a quality process in implementing any design, testing, and commissioning phases.
Communicate directly with the Engineering Manager/Project Manager in all aspects of project development.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in electrical engineering or related fields.
- Mater degree is preferred.
- 8+ years of electrical engineering design experience.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience on electrical traction power design in Rail & Transit industry.
- Licensed professional engineer or ability to obtain PE license in 6 months.
- Experience in traction power simulation, preliminary, and detail design.
- Experienced in develop engineering cost estimate for traction power projects.
- Familiar with industrial standards and codes.
- Ability to guide and mentor early career professional.
