Position Overview

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineers (KIE) has an immediate opening for a Civil Design Engineer with design build project experience to support our growing Transportation/Civil team supporting projects in the South & North Carolina regions. You will be part of our rapidly growing Infrastructure Design Department, which includes structural, geotechnical, civil, drainage, roadway, rail, and materials disciplines, is a multi-faceted and leading-edge division of Kiewit with best-in-class technical expertise focused on the Design-Build/Alternative delivery of infrastructure projects. 
 

District Overview

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering's Transportation/Civil Department leads the development of civil engineering design development for some of the most consequential infrastructure projects in North America.  Through our integrated design and construction approach, our multi-disciplinary team works together to improve schedule, control costs, and minimize risk.  Our construction-focused engineers work collaboratively with our estimators and builders to design solutions that are innovative, constructible, and designed with a focus on safety.   Clients benefit from the proven processes and tools used by Kiewit to minimize project risk. Location

This role will be based out of Charlotte, NC area with opportunity to work remote based on individual's background and qualifications. Remote role will be required to travel up to 50% or as business necessitates.

Responsibilities

Assist Design Managers/Project Managers in daily operations to ensure projects are executed on time and within budget.  You will be expected to interface with engineers, designers, subconsultants, and major stakeholders on items like design changes, change orders, invoices, budget actuals, scheduling, estimates, proposal support, distribution of documentation to stakeholders, and reporting.  Interface and coordinate with lead project controls team and engineering team to ensure schedule is appropriately aligned to the contract, and accounts appropriately for all submittals and deliverables. Use data-driven analysis to solve both operational and engineering problems involving cost, time  and human constraints. Develop tools, reports, that optimize data flows between the various teams during the project lifecycle. Exhibit agility, creativity and drive to juggle multiple tasks at once and keep stakeholders informed in a timely manner.  Take ownership of misc. project tasks, lead support staff and see items through to completion.

Qualifications

•    Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field, MSCE is a plus
•    Registered as a Professional Engineer
•    Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing
•    Minimum of 5 years of civil design experience on design build project required
•    Experience leading and mentoring junior staff
•    Experience developing construction plans for transportation projects
•    Experience leading civil design teams
•    Experience with design-build/alternative delivery preferred
•    Experience with developing civil design documentation and calculation packages
•    Working knowledge of Autodesk and/or Bentley CAD platforms preferred
•    Ability to travel up to 50% or as business necessitates

Base Compensation: $110,000/yr - $120,000/yr

(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
