Mechanical Commissioning Engineer - Industrial Projects

Position Overview

The Mechanical Commissioning Engineer primarily participates in the development and execution of planning and field activities spanning from FEL and Detailed Design Phases of a project through to completion. The applicant should possess some experience in Industrial processes (either design or operation).

Location

This position will first be assigned to our project in Sparwood, BC with our corporate office based in Calgary, AB. The successful candidate will be available to travel to both locations.

Responsibilities

• Support the Commissioning Manager and Sr. Commissioning Engineer in the safe and efficient execution of mechanical commissioning projects.
• Participate in project design reviews, focusing on mechanical systems during design development.
• Assist with the development of mechanical commissioning estimates, proposals, and bid documentation.
• Develop mechanical commissioning documentation, including execution plans, system commissioning procedures, construction/commissioning check-sheets, and project schedules.
• Assist with the development of mechanical pre-startup procedures (e.g., pump and compressor testing, HVAC system balancing, etc.).
• Define and support mechanical systems completion strategy at project kickoff.
• Track and report progress on mechanical commissioning activities.
• Identify mechanical commissioning issues and propose resolutions.
• Develop Technical Queries related to mechanical systems and follow through on resolution.
• Interface effectively with stakeholder groups to maintain synergy with project teams.
• Assist with the development of mechanical operating manuals.
• Issue weekly updates as required.
• Adhere to policies and procedures in a positive manner.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical commissioning and/or design within the industrial facilities market segment.
