Position Overview

Here is your opportunity to make a difference in the employee experience, by bringing end-to-end support to employees in one of the most personal and sensitive times in their career – leave of absence. As part of a highly collaborative, consultative and ambitious Leave Team, you’ll execute day-to-day support critical to the leave of absence event in the employee lifecycle. You’ll be a subject matter expert providing concierge level employee-focused service to employees, managers and HRBPs.

This is a full time in office role based out of Calgary, AB

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a leave concierge for employees planning and going through the leave process by guiding and educating employees through the pre-education, initiation, handling and closure/return to work phases of the leave
  • Build and manage strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders during the leave process to ensure touchpoints occur and required information is provided by the employee according to the timeline and employee questions are answered. Engage manager/HRBP/ER as needed and provide updates
  • Maintain working knowledge of current paid/unpaid leave laws and Company specific leaves
  • Utilize leave software to complete leave-related tasks by deadline such as the distribution and collection or required forms from the initial employee inquiry to return-to-work
  • Coordinates ADA process with Stakeholders (HRBPs, project sites, etc.)
  • Utilize SAP to enter leave actions and employee time such as PTO/sick-carryover/vacation and appropriate entry/removal of pay additions for any employee going on or coming off of a leave of absence
  • Ability to coordinate and monitor tasks with other internal groups such as payroll
  • Communicate with vendors as needed to support timely handling of disability claims
  • Collaborate with peers to share learnings, cross-train, leverage best practices, challenge the status quo, drive consistency and deliver operational excellence
  • Focus on continuous improvement and innovation to refine and evolve leave processes and improve the employee experience
  • Manage escalations and issue resolution
  • Focus externally to remain aware of industry trends and best practices

Qualifications

  • Bachelors in Human Resource/Business Management or equivalent experience
  • 2-4 years of experience working in human resources, shared services or human capital consulting with disability benefits and other leaves required by state and/or federal law including The Family Medical Leave Act
  • Basic investigative and analytical skills sufficient to identify the employee’s need for leave and recommend a leave plan
  • CLMS Certification preferred
  • Understanding of Canadian Leave of Absence preferred
  • Basic understanding of SAP preferred
  • Bilingual in English and French preferred
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships and influence multiple levels of stakeholders; organizational savvy; excellent networker, strong external focus and service delivery mindset
  • Proven success with service delivery, evolving the customer experience, process optimization, and leveraging new technology solutions
  • Results oriented with a high degree of independence, collaboration, resiliencies, curiosity, agility and adaptability
  • Detail oriented; ability to understand and apply leave laws and policies; ability to adapt to technology as administrative programs evolve
  • Ability to work and think independently, to analyze and solve complex problems with excellent judgment; and provide high quality work with attention to detail
  • Basic math skills sufficient to calculate benefit overpayments or premiums owed
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Demonstrates in-depth of knowledge for all Company policies and Federal, State/Provincial, and local leave laws
  • Experience working in a fast-paced team environment
  • Regular and predictable on-site attendance
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, inclusive of Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel preferred #LI-AK1
