Position Overview

As an Office Clerk, you will play a key role in supporting project operations by assisting with essential accounting and finance functions, including cost control, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and compliance. You will gain hands on experience with processes and systems tied to labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractor costs, while also contributing to month end close activities and helping prepare financial reports for project leadership.

District Overview

Kiewit Power Constructors (KPC) provides direct-hire construction services for Power Generation utilizing a union craft force.  Kiewit Power Constructors builds major EPC power plant and solar projects throughout North America. We offer integrated engineering, procurement, construction and startup service needs, specializing in gas and coal-fired power generation, coal retrofit and renewable energy.

This position is located out of our Caledonia, MS office. 

Responsibilities

•    Comprehends purchasing workflows, including ordering goods, receiving invoices, issuing payments, and maintaining proper internal controls.
•    Supports the accounts payable workflow and helps resolve vendor or payment issues.
•    Understands intercompany and client billing processes, ensuring timely and accurate billing documentation to support cash flow.
•    Reviews costs and cost adjustments for accuracy and compliance with company standards and accounting requirements.
•    Reviews cost reports, quantity claiming, budget structures, and exception reports; makes necessary corrections to ensure accurate management reporting.
•    Identifies, adjusts, and resolves forecast and budget issues to ensure proper recognition of cost and revenue.
•    Provides excellent customer service, maintains a positive attitude, and supports teammates proactively.
•    Keeps work highly organized, manages time effectively, and communicates clearly and professionally.
•    Follows the Corporate Compliance Program and collaborates with compliance on EEO and labor law implementation at the project level.
•    Leads the full recruitment lifecycle—sourcing, screening, interviewing, and guiding candidates through each hiring stage.
•    Negotiates job offers in a thoughtful manner, balancing candidate expectations with organizational requirements.
•    Stays current on recruiting trends, tools, and technologies to enhance talent acquisition effectiveness.
•    Strengthens employee engagement by educating managers on HR cycles, delivering training, promoting wellness programs, gathering feedback, and supporting retention of craft and staff employees.
•    Serves as the on site HR partner, aligning field teams with HR strategies, managing the full employee lifecycle, ensuring compliance, and supporting workforce planning.
•    Reduces people related risks by managing performance issues, conducting investigations, handling complaints, coaching employees, supporting crisis situations, and ensuring safety and HR compliance.

Qualifications

•    Demonstrates strong teamwork by adapting to project needs and assisting across functions as required.
•    Builds and maintains productive relationships with the Operations team and proactively learns project workflows.
•    Understands payroll and HR process workflows and efficiently uses systems to hire, transfer, terminate, and pay employees.
•    Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Statistics, Business Management, or related field.
•    0–2 years of financial or data analysis experience; prior internship experience preferred.
•    Minimum GPA of 3.0.
•    3+ years of recruiting experience in a corporate or agency environment; construction or engineering recruiting strongly preferred.
•    Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook; proficiency with Pivot Tables, V Lookups, and advanced Excel functions preferred.
•    Knowledge of HR practices (benefits, compensation, employment, employee relations).
•    Proficiency with ATS and HRIS systems.
•    Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
•    Strong attention to detail and ability to identify discrepancies.
•    Positive attitude, eagerness to learn, and commitment to continuous improvement.
•    Ability to work independently and in a team within a high volume, fast paced environment with shifting priorities.
•    Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
•    Ability to relocate anywhere in the U.S. and travel up to 50% as required.
•    Must be able to access all areas of a construction site in varying climates and environments.
•    Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
•    Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship.
