Position Overview
Civil Superintendents at Kiewit are jobsite leaders with responsibility over all construction activities on our projects. This role requires strong expertise in civil engineering, project management, and team coordination. The ideal candidate will ensure that all civil work is completed safely, on time, and within budget while maintaining the highest standards of quality. Superintendents lead the organization, work methods, scheduling, cost control, conformity with drawings and specification, workmanship, and assignment of work to accomplish the execution of the work, either directly or through General Foreman or Foreman. You will also work to maintain positive working relationships with clients, architect/engineer, suppliers, subcontractors, and jobsite staff.

District Overview
Kiewit’s Western Canada District primarily performs heavy civil projects specializing in earth moving, transportation, roadways, bridges, water resources, and underground utilities. We are looking for hard working individuals with a passion for construction who aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty! Our current opportunities are spread across Western Canada.

Responsibilities
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate all civil activities on assigned projects.
- Supervise and mentor civil crews, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
- Ensure all work meets project specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Promote and enforce a strong safety culture, adhering to all safety policies and procedures.
- Monitor and control project costs, ensuring efficient use of resources and materials.
- Identify and resolve any issues or challenges that arise during the project lifecycle.
- Maintain positive relationships with clients, addressing any concerns and providing regular project updates.
- Prepare and maintain accurate project documentation, including daily reports, schedules, and change orders.
- Assist in schedule planning, determining craft labor levels, material quantities, and equipment requirements.
- Manage contract administration (subcontractor/field management).
- Mentor and help to grow fellow Kiewit staff through performance evaluations.
Qualifications
- At least 8 years of construction experience with experience working in a superintendent/leadership capacity supporting civil construction operations.
- Experience supporting civil project functions on industrial and/or power construction projects.
- Experience working on design-build construction projects and collaborating/communicating with design project teams.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of various construction disciplines, union agreements, safety regulations, scheduling, cost control, engineering drawings, and other documents.
- Excellent organizational, administrative, communication, and interpersonal skills.

- Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.
- Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required.
- May work at various different locations and conditions may vary.
Base Compensation: $150,000+
- Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location.
- Additional project-based premiums may be applied depending on assignment.
