Position Overview

Kiewit is seeking a Senior Construction Scheduling Manager to be based out of our Baltimore, MD project office. We are looking for the ideal candidate with 15 years of scheduling experience, 10 years being on projects of similar complexity that include working on or around an active railroad, to perform planning and scheduling activities on heavy civil infrastructure projects. This hands-on role will give you the opportunity to directly impact scheduling outcomes, from estimate through project completions, over a broad range of projects. By analyzing, monitoring, and maintaining the projects’ progress, you’ll prepare reports, develop alternative solutions, and be a key team member in driving a successful completion. 

District Overview

You will be part of Kiewit’s Eastern District, which specializes in challenging infrastructure construction projects throughout the Northeast, including the metropolitan areas of New York, Chicago, Boston, and Washington DC. We are leaders in bridge, transit, foundation, tunnel, and water/wastewater construction while specializing in cast-in-place concrete, structural steel erection, earthwork, pile driving, and caissons. Kiewit’s Eastern District also has a large amount of work in the energy/power sector in various northeast locations. With our experienced and dedicated employees, extensive resources and in-depth market knowledge, the Eastern District can handle projects of any size.

Location

This person will work on a large, heavy civil infrastructure project (tunneling, bridges, and transit rail) in Baltimore, Maryland.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, direct, and mentor a small team of schedulers on the project site.
  • Develop resource loaded schedules, including lists of activities, major milestones, critical approvals, long lead procurement items and other critical project deliverables to be scheduled and tracked for the project.
  • Develop schedule logic and constraints, realistic activity durations, available manpower, and resources.
  • Provide scheduling analysis for delays and impacts to identify and mitigate project risk.
  • Manage internal controls including implementing process controls, measuring project performance, reporting on project status, and ensuring the integrity and validity of internally and externally disseminated information.
  • Apply knowledge of engineering, procurement, and construction terminology and concepts to develop and maintain critic path logic networks.
  • Accumulate and access historical data for use in maintaining realistic future planning and forecasting.
  • Provide guidance, direction, and specialized assistance for the resolution of difficult project control problems.
  • May interface with clients, attend regular meetings, and give statistical reports as needed.

Qualifications

  • 15 total years of relevant work experience, with at least 10 years of experience working on projects of similar complexity that include working on, or around, an active railroad. 
  • Primavera (P6) scheduling experience required. 
  • Undergraduate degree in engineering, construction management, or related field (technical training and related experience may be considered in lieu of).
  • Understanding of Earned Value Management System.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Computer proficient and the ability to adapt to new innovations and processes.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • Demonstrated work ethic.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
