Position Overview

The Safety Admin supports project operations by helping implement, monitor, and maintain safety programs on heavy civil construction projects. This role serves as a key resource to field supervision, craft professionals, subcontractors, and project management teams by assisting with safety compliance, documentation, training coordination, inspections, incident management, and regulatory requirements.

Kiewit’s Eastern District specializes in challenging heavy civil construction projects throughout the Northeast, including the metropolitan areas of New York, Chicago, Boston, and Washington DC.  We are leaders in bridge, transit, foundation, tunnel, and water/wastewater construction while specializing in cast-in-place concrete, structural steel erection, earthwork, pile driving, and caissons. Kiewit’s Eastern District also has a large amount of work in the energy/power sector in various northeast locations. Responsibilities

•    Assist in monitoring the activities of heavy industrial construction projects, ensuring the facility's compliance with pertinent governmental regulations, company policies and procedures.
•    Assist in determining the cause of unsafe conditions and injury claims through procedure, equipment and facilities inspection and worker observation.
•    Provide corrective action recommendations and assist in implementing metrics for tracking and reporting on performance issues.
•    Review project work plans for accuracy in conformance with the standards and assist in environmental health and safety program audits, coaching, and training. 
•    Assist with the presentations during new hire safety training and safety meetings. 
•    Monitor all construction work for compliance with environmental health and safety requirements. 

Qualifications

•    Ability to travel and relocate as needed
•    Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety (OSHA) or equivalent degree/work experience
•    Knowledge of construction safety and current Federal and OSHA requirements
•    Effective written and verbal communication skills
•    Experience with the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
•    Strong organization and time management skills
•    Ability to work independently as well as a part of a team
•    Strong attention to detail, with the ability to recognize discrepancies
•    Ability to carry out duties in varying work environments including wide ranging weather conditions and terrain

•    Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment
•    Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.
•    Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required.
•    May work at various different locations and conditions may vary

Base Compensation: $55,000/yr - $63,000/yr

(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
