Position Overview

Here, you can work on many different projects in your career - including transportation, water/wastewater, power, oil, gas, chemical, building and mining.  We are adding Foremen to our Southwest District to support projects across the region.  Initially, you will support a 67 mile ITS Broadband project near Phoenix Arizona, so we seek Foreman that have specific experience with the dry utility trade and ideally, telecommunications knowledge.  Our Dry Utility Foreman will be hands on and will perform conduit installation and installation of pull boxes.  Foreman working on this project will have Union benefits with the local union shop.

District Overview

Kiewit Southwest District specializes in heavy civil, primarily in water/wastewater plant and plant pipeline design/construction and transportation design/construction.  This district includes major projects ranging from $20M to $600M+ in Utah, Nevada, Arizona, and Idaho.   We self-perform most of our work, and we don’t hire you just for one project - we hire for a career and to support the district.  This means travel, job stability, variation in your job, and new adventures every day!  We self-perform most of our work in all disciplines - Civil/Structural/Mechanical/Electrical/Utilities.  We are looking for people committed to engineering and construction, with safety, quality, costs, and schedule in mind.

Responsibilities

Lead crews, provide oversight and direction for trenching, basic equipment rigging, and able to provide guidance to crews for construction in rural areas.  
Read, understand and enforce company policies and procedures.  Plan and execute the assigned work in accordance with those policies and procedures.
Read, understand and produce work from blueprints and drawings.
Objectively analyze the work of coworkers and subordinates and effectively communicate improvement objectives.  Initiate disciplinary measures when appropriate.
Identify areas of improvement and cost-savings and communicate to superintendent.
Listen to direction and suggestions from employees and management regarding safe and proper work practices.  Take necessary corrective action to eliminate or minimize safety hazards.
Identify, and respond to all safety hazards, manage work crews safely.
Ensure crews produce quality construction work that meets company and industry standards.

Qualifications

5+ years' experience in construction is preferred, with lead-man capabilities and skills in the dry utilities trade/craft is required.  Specific experience with conduit and pull box installation is required. 
Must understand verbal and written instructions and safety rules and be able to read safety signs and warnings.
Must be capable of reading and producing work from blueprints and drawings. 
Must have ability to read plans and shoot grades.
Must be able to coordinate ordering materials and planning jobs.
Check slopes for conformance to plans.
Must have knowledge of safety standards and OSHA requirements.
Experience leading site crews for Electrical related projects.  Experience with ITS/Broadband/Telecommunications is preferred.
