Position Overview

As a Quality Specialist for Kiewit, you will support numerous projects across Texas and provide material testing on asphalt produced by a mobile plant to ensure that our materials meet client specification requirements. This person will be a part of Kiewit’s South Central district’s aggregate and paving group and will work on large roadway and other paving type jobs. District Overview

Kiewit's South-Central District is one of Kiewit's leading infrastructure districts specializing in heavy civil, transportation, and water resource markets. Projects where these materials could be used on could include mass grading, drainage, paving, underground utilities and more. Although most of our work is regionally based in the south-central region of the United States, we also pursue various projects stretching across the United States. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about infrastructure and committed to the construction industry as opposed to engineering design.

Location

This position will support our civil scope on large scale data center projects in TX.  Project sites include Abilene and El Paso TX.  

Responsibilities

•    Promote and maintain effective communications and relations (verbally and in writing) with district management, project management teams and engineers/clients as required.
•    Examine and inspect field conditions and identify problems, inaccuracies and cost saving measures that arise or that may be encountered; take corrective action as needed.
•    Listen to employee and supervisor suggestions, complaints, problems, safety concerns and recommendations, evaluate each and then devise and implement a plan of action based on that evaluation.
•    Identify potential safety hazards and take all necessary corrective actions to eliminate or minimize them.
•    Maintain a thorough knowledge of the KIG Quality Management System and procedures and promote standardization.
•    Develop and complete  Procedure Qualification Records and Civil Procedure Specifications.
•    Manage Procedure Specification log and files for assigned districts.
•    Research technical matters and distribute reference material to support the district and projects.
•    Assist in conducting project quality audits and reports. 
•    Train and mentor junior quality specialists and technicians.

Qualifications

•    At least four years’ engineering or science degree or technical college degree plus two years’ experience in related construction field 
•    Must have the ability to run the quality reports and document process.
•    Must be able to clearly communicate the status of quality on a project. 
•    Must have a minimum of 2 years’ experience with civil/infrastructure projects. (grading, utilities, concrete)
•    Excellent communication and technical writing skills, ability to research and work with detailed/technical matters and convey/explain the information to field personnel
•    Ability to work in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and SharePoint software programs as well as able to quickly learn other software applications
•    Strong organizational skills and the ability to perform a variety of tasks with deadlines and potentially frequent interruptions
