Location
This position will begin in Abilene, TX.
Candidates must be open to relocation based on project needs, skill development, and career growth opportunities.
Responsibilities

Perform inspections of fiber optic and telecommunications construction activities.

Verify installation of underground conduit systems, handholes, vaults, innerduct, and fiber optic cable.

Inspect aerial fiber installations, pole attachments, strand installation, and cable placement activities.

Review construction drawings, specifications, quality procedures, and client standards.

Validate fiber splicing, termination, labeling, and documentation requirements.

Witness and document fiber testing activities, including OTDR, power meter, continuity, and acceptance testing.

Maintain inspection records, punch lists, NCRs, and turnover documentation.

Coordinate with construction, engineering, project controls, subcontractors, and client representatives to resolve quality concerns.

Participate in quality audits, assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Ensure all work complies with project quality plans, applicable telecommunications standards, and customer requirements.
Qualifications
-
3+ years of telecommunications, fiber optic, utility, or infrastructure construction experience.

Experience performing quality inspections on fiber optic network installations.

Ability to read fiber route drawings, splice schematics, utility plans, and construction specifications.

Familiarity with underground and aerial fiber construction methods.

Understanding of telecommunications testing methods, including OTDR and fiber acceptance testing.

Experience managing quality documentation, punch lists, and turnover packages.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, GIS systems, or construction management software.

Strong communication and organizational skills.

Ability to travel and relocate as business needs require.
Preferred Qualifications
- CFOT (Certified Fiber Optic Technician) certification.
- BICSI Technician or Installer certification.
- Experience supporting large-scale broadband, hyperscale data center, utility, or telecom network deployments.
- Experience with OFCI material management and equipment tracking.
- Knowledge of NEC, NESC, BICSI, and customer-specific telecommunications standards.
