Position Overview

Lead the onsite medical program, emergency response, and worker health initiatives for the project. My role is to keep the workforce safe, ensure rapid response to incidents, and build systems that prevent injuries and improve overall health and performance.

This site also serves as a pilot program, where we test, refine, and build the blueprint for future mega projects.

Location

This role is based out of our Abilene Texas office.

Responsibilities

1. Onsite Medical Operations

  • Oversee daily clinic operations (EMTs, Paramedics, NPs/PAs)
  • Ensure proper injury care, documentation, and return-to-work decisions
  • Set clinical workflows and standards

 

2. Emergency Response Leadership

  • Lead all onsite emergency medical response
  • Direct response during serious incidents
  • Run emergency drills and preparedness planning
  • Coordinate with EMS, fire, and hospitals

 

3. Safety Integration

  • Partner with Safety to investigate injuries and determine root cause
  • Ensure alignment between medical & safety (“one story”)
  • Support high-risk work planning

 

4. Crisis Management & Planning

  • Build and maintain:
    • Crisis Management Plan
    • Medical & Emergency SOPs
    • Emergency Action Plans (EAPs)
  • Continuously improve based on incidents and drills

 

5. Workers’ Compensation Coordination

  • Liaison with corporate workers’ comp team
  • Ensure proper reporting and early intervention

 

6. Mental Health Program (In Development)

  • Build onsite mental health program with corporate
  • Integrate EAP, training, and worker resources

 

7. Heat Stress & Environmental Health

  • Develop heat stress program with Korey Stringer Institute
  • Implement prevention, monitoring, and training

 

8. External Partnerships

  • Build relationships with:
    • Local hospitals
    • Doctors and specialists
    • Emergency services
  • Ensure smooth transitions for higher-level care

 

9. Data, Reporting & Continuous Improvement

  • Track trends (injuries, clinic use, response times)
  • Report insights to leadership
  • Use data to improve systems and decision-making

 

10. Program Development & Future State (Blueprint Building)

  • Use this project as a testing ground for what works and what doesn’t
  • Develop scalable models for:
    • Onsite medical operations
    • Emergency response systems
    • Worker health programs (mental health, heat, prevention)
  • Document lessons learned, best practices, and standard processes
  • Contribute to building a repeatable model for future mega sites. #LI-KS23
