Position Overview

Kiewit Industrial is seeking a Material/Equipment Receiving Quality Inspector to support quality assurance across incoming materials, equipment, and components for large industrial projects. In this role, you’ll verify that all received materials meet project specifications and code requirements, maintain traceability documentation, and support overall quality execution from the moment materials arrive on site. You’ll work closely with construction teams, warehouse personnel, engineering, suppliers, and client representatives to ensure materials are compliant, properly documented, and ready for installation.

Location

This position will begin in Abilene, TX with the expectation of travel and/or relocation as project needs evolve across the Industrial District.

Responsibilities

  • Perform receiving inspections on incoming materials and equipment, verifying compliance with specifications, approved submittals, drawings, and purchase orders.
  • Confirm identification and material traceability—heat numbers, serial numbers, MTRs/MTCs, certifications, and other required documentation.
  • Document all receiving inspections in logs, reports, and digital systems; maintain audit-ready records.Identify, document, and coordinate resolution of nonconforming materials, including tagging, segregation, and NCR initiation.
  • Coordinate with warehouse/material management to ensure proper handling, protection, and storage of materials that require special conditions.
  • Support implementation of project-specific Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) related to receiving and material verification.Assist quality personnel with in‑process and final inspections as needed across mechanical, electrical, and civil scopes.
  • Prepare and organize receiving‑related documentation for turnover packages.
  • Work collaboratively with construction, engineering, suppliers, and client representatives to resolve material issues and ensure quality expectations are met.

Qualifications

  • 2–5+ years of experience in construction quality, inspection, material receiving, or industrial project support.Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, material certifications, and purchase documents.
  • Experience with receiving inspection processes and traceability of materials and equipment.
  • Familiarity with quality systems, ITPs, NCR processes, and documentation requirements.Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to travel and relocate based on project demands.
  • Proficiency with basic inspection tools and digital documentation platforms.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience on large industrial, manufacturing, power, or EPC projects.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, or civil material types and industry standards.
  • Previous experience within a Kiewit district or similar self-perform construction environment.
