Location

This position is based in Abilene, TX.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will utilize geological knowledge under the direction of an experienced Geological or Geotechnical Engineer to complete technical engineering assignments, including:

• Providing project support during the proposal/bid phase; working with team members to assess subsurface conditions to identify and develop solutions to geological and geotechnical problems or challenges.
• Working on design-build and EPC projects, for transportation, power, industrial, and oil, gas & chemical markets, including underground construction and tunneling.
• Performing desktop geologic studies, geologic mapping, subsurface investigations, and/or field testing
• Producing engineering reports, drawings, and detailed calculation packages.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a degree in Geology or related field
• Strong academic knowledge of geology, including engineering geology, structural geology, geomorphology, hydrogeology, field mapping, geophysics, subsurface investigations, and use of GIS.
• Understanding of boring log preparation, development of cross-sections or fence diagrams, use of software to prepare subsurface block models, use of a database or other commercially available software to organize large volumes of subsurface information.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; demonstrated ability to work in a team setting.
• Strong interpersonal skills resulting in exceptional rapport with people.
• GPA above a 3.0 preferred.
• Knowledge and experience working with Microsoft Word and Excel
• Strong work ethic - willing to do what it takes to get the job done
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Be willing to fully participate in job assignments at the job site, district office or department to which the intern is assigned
