Position Overview

The Welding Inspector is responsible for supporting project quality requirements through inspection, documentation, and verification of welding activities. This position works closely with construction, engineering, and quality personnel to ensure compliance with project specifications, applicable codes, and client requirements. The Welding Inspector provides field oversight of welding operations and assists in implementing quality processes that support safe and efficient project execution.

Responsibilities

Welding Inspection & Quality Assurance

  • Perform inspections of welding and fabrication activities in accordance with project specifications, codes, and procedures.
  • Verify welder qualifications, welding procedures, and material traceability requirements.
  • Conduct visual weld inspections and coordinate non-destructive examination (NDE) activities as required.
  • Review Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and ensure required inspection points are completed.
  • Document inspection results and maintain accurate quality records.

Project Quality Support

  • Work with field supervision and craft personnel to address quality-related issues and deficiencies.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Support client quality audits and project assessments.
  • Monitor compliance with project quality requirements and established procedures.
  • Communicate inspection findings and quality concerns to project leadership.

Documentation & Turnover

  • Maintain welding records, inspection reports, and quality documentation.
  • Assist with project turnover documentation and quality package assembly.
  • Verify completion and accuracy of required inspection and test records.
  • Support project reporting and quality metric tracking.

Safety & Compliance

  • Promote and support a culture focused on safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Perform inspection activities in accordance with company safety policies and procedures.
  • Support compliance with applicable industry codes, client specifications, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 5+ years of welding inspection or construction quality experience in industrial, power, energy, or heavy industrial environments.
  • Experience interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and welding procedures.
  • Knowledge of AWS, ASME, and applicable industry codes and standards.
  • Strong organizational, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
