Position Overview

The Continuous Improvement (CI) Manager in Power Construction leads strategic initiatives focused on increasing operational efficiency, enhancing quality, reducing waste, and improving project delivery outcomes. This role partners closely with project managers, field leadership, engineering, safety, and corporate functions to implement Lean principles, optimize workflows, and standardize best practices across the power construction portfolio.
The CI Manager serves as a change agent—driving a culture of continuous improvement and ensuring that teams are equipped with the tools, training, and data needed to execute large-scale construction projects with excellence.

District Overview

TIC Power (TICP) is a subsidiary of Kiewit Corporation that provides direct-hire construction services for Power Generation utilizing a non-union craft force. Strength in estimating and pre-project planning. Constructing cogeneration, combined-cycle, geothermal and waste-to-energy generation and resource facilities. TIC Power builds major EPC power plant projects throughout North America.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead the CI roadmap for the power construction business unit.
  • Promote and implement Lean construction principles (5S, value stream mapping, Kaizen, Last Planner System, etc.).
  • Conduct process observations, diagnose inefficiencies, and recommend improvements.
  • Facilitate Kaizen events, workshops, and problem‑solving sessions across project sites.
  • Establish standard work, process documentation, and training materials.
  • Analyze project execution metrics to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Support project teams in planning, scheduling, workflow optimization, and root cause analysis.
  • Lead initiatives to reduce rework, enhance productivity, and improve schedule reliability.
  • Collaborate with engineering and field leaders to streamline construction sequencing and material flow.
  • Develop dashboards, KPI tracking systems, and continuous improvement scorecards.
  • Partner with project controls to assess cost, schedule, labor productivity, and quality data.
  • Present improvement results, cost savings, and performance insights to senior leadership.
  • Coach leaders and project teams on CI tools, methodologies, and cultural adoption.
  • Lead change management initiatives to ensure long‑term sustainment of improvements.
  • Support onboarding and ongoing development of CI practices across offices and job sites.
  • Partner with Safety, Quality, Engineering, Project Controls, and Operations to align processes.
  • Support digital transformation initiatives related to construction technology adoption (BIM, workflows, automation, prefabrication).
  • Work with supply chain teams to optimize vendor performance and procurement processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, Operations, or related field.
  • 5–10+ years of experience in power construction, industrial construction, utilities, EPC, or similar heavy‑construction environments.
  • Strong understanding of Lean principles, continuous improvement methodologies, or operational excellence.
  • Proven experience driving process improvements in field and project-based settings.
  • Ability to analyze data, interpret project metrics, and lead root cause analysis.
  • Strong facilitation, communication, and stakeholder‑influencing skills.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt, Black Belt, or equivalent).
  • Experience with transmission, distribution, substation, renewable energy, or power generation projects.
  • Background in project controls, scheduling, or construction operations.
  • Familiarity with systems such as Primavera P6, Procore, Power BI, or similar platforms.
  • Experience leading change management initiatives (ADKAR, Prosci, or equivalent).
