Position Overview

The Bilingual Language Instructor supports both Spanish-speaking craft workers and English-speaking supervisors by delivering job-specific English and Spanish instruction across multiple construction projects. This role strengthens safety, teamwork, and communication by providing practical language skills tailored to real construction environments.

Location

This position is based out of Mississippi. Regularly travel to construction job sites in Mississippi. 

Responsibilities

Instruction & Learning Delivery

  • Teach English to Spanish-speaking construction workers emphasizing jobsite communication, safety vocabulary, and common construction terminology.
  • Teach Spanish to English-speaking supervisors with a focus on communicating clearly with crews, understanding key phrases, and supporting safety conversations.
  • Develop and deliver interactive lessons tailored to adult learners.
  • Provide instruction in small groups across job sites.

 

Program Development & Compliance

  • Conduct informal assessments and adjust instruction.
  • Maintain attendance, progress notes, and weekly reports.
  • Align curriculum with safety standards and OSHA terminology.
  • Partner with HR and project leadership to identify training needs.

 

Communication & Engagement

  • Build trust with craft workers.
  • Serve as cultural and linguistic bridge.
  • Provide feedback on communication challenges.

 

Travel & Jobsite Interaction

  • Travel to multiple job sites weekly.
  • Adapt training to variable work environments.
  • Follow all PPE and jobsite safety protocols.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Native or fluent Spanish speaker with strong English skills.
  • BA/BS Degree in Language – Spanish and/or English
  • Ability to tailor instruction to diverse learning levels.
  • Ability to obtain teaching certificate
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

 

Preferred:

  • ESL/TESOL/TEFL certification.
  • Experience teaching adults (ESL, Spanish, or workforce training).
  • Experience in construction or safety-sensitive industries.
  • Familiarity with OSHA terminology.
