Position Overview

The Facility Maintenance Superintendent is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and operational integrity of critical construction facilities within a large-scale Data Center project. This role ensures all temporary building systems—including electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and life safety—are maintained to support continuous uptime and compliance with industry standards. The Superintendent will coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance activities, manage subcontractors, and enforce safety and quality standards throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Maintenance Oversight:
    • Supervise and schedule preventive and corrective maintenance for buildings, electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and plumbing systems.
    • Ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications, standards, and client requirements.
  • Operational Reliability:
    • Monitor critical systems to maintain 24/7 operational readiness.
    • Respond promptly to alarms, outages, and emergency situations.
  • Team & Vendor Management:
    • Direct maintenance technicians and subcontractors, ensuring adherence to safety and quality protocols.
    • Review and approve work orders, service reports, and vendor invoices.
  • Documentation & Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and compliance certifications.
    • Provide regular updates to project leadership on system performance and maintenance KPIs.
  • Safety & Compliance:
    • Enforce site safety policies and OSHA standards.
    • Ensure compliance with NFPA, ASHRAE, and local building codes.

Qualifications

  • Education:
    • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Facilities Management, Construction Management or related field (preferred).
  • Experience:
    • 5+ years in facility maintenance or operations, preferably in mission-critical environments (Data Centers, Industrial Plants, etc.).
    • Experience supervising maintenance teams and managing vendors.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, HVAC, UPS, generators, and fire suppression systems.
    • Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).
  • Certifications (Preferred):
    • OSHA 30, NFPA 70E, PMP or equivalent.
