Position Overview
Mass Electric Industrial is seeking entry-level Electrical Designers to join our team. We are looking for candidates who can help grow the Kiewit and MEC teams by establishing, maintaining, and improving company standards and tools, while also applying these resources to support project success.
Ideal candidates are familiar with current Modeling and technical tools, programs, and software, and have a solid understanding of design documentation and layout development. Candidates should demonstrate flexibility in their work assignments, maintain a growth mindset, and show commitment to developing their technical and professional skills.

Location
This position will be based out of Westlake, TX, Irvine CA, and Waltham MA.
Responsibilities
- Develop and update 3D electrical system models—including lighting, power distribution, conduit routing, and equipment—using BIM software such as Revit and AutoCAD.
- Produce construction-ready drawings, layouts, and details derived from BIM models.
- Assist in maintaining project BIM standards, templates, and modeling best practices.
- Coordinate electrical models with mechanical, plumbing, architectural, and structural disciplines to ensure system compatibility.
- Reports project progression updates and/or issues to leadership as required.
- Participates in project meetings as required.
- Contributing to the enhancement and upkeep of BIM/Revit processes, tools, and standards to optimize project workflows and maintain consistency across projects. Uphold Kiewit BIM standards, templates and quality control processes across all project phases.
- Collaborating actively with architects, engineers, and other designers as part of an integrated project team to achieve design goals efficiently and effectively.
- Performing rigorous quality assurance and control checks on all deliverables, adhering strictly to company standards and industry best practices.
- Incorporate design changes into models and documentation with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Support engineers and senior designers by preparing model updates, redlines, and documentation packages.
- Ensure all modeling work aligns with applicable codes, project specifications, and company standards.
Qualifications
- An associate or bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, design & drafting technology, engineering technology, design, or a related field is required.
- 0-2 years' minimum relevant experience.
- Participates on teams effectively. Accepts direction from the team. Individually contributes to success of the team.
- Familiarity with BIM and CAD platforms (Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks preferred).
- Basic understanding of electrical systems and construction documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established modeling standards.
- Willingness to learn, adapt, and grow within a collaborative design environment.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work with multidisciplinary teams.
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to identify and communicate model issues.
- Able to manage responsibilities and meet deadlines under supervision.
- Experience utilizing 3D programs such as MicroStation, AutoCAD, Revit, AutoCAD MEP, or Navisworks and have knowledge of the latest computer operating systems.
- Must be able to conceptualize in a 3D environment.
- Must be able to communicate through emails and utilize electronic meeting requests.
- Must have a working knowledge of spreadsheets, databases and PDF software.

Base Compensation: $63,000/yr - $68,640/yr
(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
