Position Overview

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading sales efforts and has primary account responsibility for clients in their region and/or market area.  He or she is responsible for establishing relationships with clients at all levels of the organization necessary to effectively communicate our value as well as to translate our services into cost competitive engineering, procurement and construction solutions to meet their needs.  Relationships must extend across a diverse client base to ensure Kiewit is attuned to evolving market conditions. 

District Overview

Mass. Electric Construction Co. (MEC) is a subsidiary of the Kiewit Corporation.  Since our founding in 1928 in Boston, Massachusetts, Mass. Electric Construction’s philosophy has been to pursue electrical projects that require a higher level of technical and logistical skill.  MEC has organized strategically to actively participate and capture projects in the growing industrial market.  We intend to effectively compete and win in traditional and alternate delivery procurements and position ourselves for a sustainable future. We self-perform the majority of our work and are looking for people committed to the industrial construction industry. 


Ideally this position would be based out of Washington DC.  We would consider having this person be based out of another location, should that location be in the Mid-Atlantic portion of the US. 


Strategic Client Relationship Building 
•    Develop and sustain a robust pipeline of relevant, qualified regional opportunities. 
•    Monitor projects, analyze results, and maintain existing client relationships to facilitate communication on current and future project performance.
•    Expand work with existing clients through additional services and offerings that meet clients evolving needs. 
•    Continually evaluate the regional market for new clients and new service offerings that can be delivered for current Mass. Electric clients
•    Serve as the client advocate for all responses to client request for proposals (RFPs) and request for information (RFI’s) and work solicitation inquiries; present to management argument for go/no go decisions 
•    Drive continuous assertive client follow up, rapid opportunity identification, and issue resolution. 
•    Lead all regional client-based events as well as business development-oriented regional conferences and other client events. 
•    Advise and support other professionals involved in business development in their efforts with clients.
•    Coordinate sales in the region and support joint client visits
•    Visit plant and corporate locations for relationship building for a wide variety of work opportunities ranging from EPC, engineering services, construction, and retrofit design projects to new greenfield projects.
•    Provide support as requested on client contract negotiations.  
•    Support business development for all Mass. Electric entities as needed and as appropriate.
•    Become and remain continually informed on industry developments and the competitive landscape.
•    Identify and communicate competitor and market sector intelligence.

Specific Opportunity Pursuit 
•    Pursue, qualify, coordinate, develop, collaborate, and deliver winning proposals to our clients.
•    Develop the proposal strategy and value messaging for all regional proposals. 
•    Collaborate with marketing and other stakeholders to write value proposition based proposals that crisply articulate our differentiators to our clients 
•    Nurture relationships with key client individuals to support Mass. Electric’s proposals. 
•    Communicate with the client before, during and after the proposal process to gather specific guidance to   ensure our service offerings meet their objectives.
•    Identify key Mass. Electric advocates within the client and use appropriately.


•    10 plus years of experience in the marketplace or similar markets.
•    Able to rapidly develop tactical plans to position Mass. Electric in these markets.
•    Proven, verifiable, track record of leading successful sales pursuits – GC, EPC, etc.
•    This individual must be well organized and have a high energy level. He or she must be a perceptive self-starter who can implement effective sales and marketing programs and make adjustments for industry trends, market swings, and competitor activities. 
•    The successful candidate will be innovative and have the ability to perceive business opportunities.
•    Must possess a professional demeanor that builds trusting relationships.
•    Excellent written and oral communication skills.
•    Interact effectively both professionally and socially with people of all levels.
•    Aggressive about career advancement through results based performance.
•    Individual must conduct himself/herself in a manner which will reflect favorably upon the company, enhance its reputation and promote good will. The successful individual will have a reputation for integrity, maturity, and sound business judgment
•    Up to 50% travel required.
