Position Overview

As a Signaling Superintendent, you will supervise train control and signaling operations on construction projects. These are large projects, and we are involved in all phases from planning, design, procurement, construction, installation, system integration, testing, and commissioning. Location

This person will work on a large metro rail project in downtown Toronto, ON.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the train control and signaling operations on construction projects.
  • Perform daily inspections of work performed. 
  • Act as liaison and coordinator between contractors and engineered equipment suppliers. 
  • Solve problems that arise.
  • Establish budgetary guidelines for the job and ensure that cost control measures are being followed.
  • Provide job safety training and awareness for all personnel. 
  • Establish quality standards of all jobs and ensure that all quality assurance and company standards are being met.
  • Develop and manage job schedules (e.g., three-week, 90 day, man loading), coordinate work with contractors and deliveries with suppliers, and ensure inspections are scheduled appropriately.

Qualifications

  • 8 years of relevant work experience within the construction industry.
  • Experience supervising crews.
  • Broad understanding of technical train control systems, including underground layout/installation and equipment installation, as well as above ground systems layout and installations, such as conduit and cable tray systems.
  • Ability to manage and interface with train control engineered equipment suppliers.
  • Ability to communicate successfully with various project teams, sub-contractors, vendors, and clients.
  • Working knowledge of computers and experience with the use of Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Must have a positive attitude and possess excellent motivational skills.
  • Must be able to access all points of a construction site.

Base Compensation: $115,000/yr - $140,000/yr
(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
