Position Overview
As an Estimating Lead, you will prepare, review and present estimates for projects in the power industry. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating with multiple internal construction discipline estimators, acquiring pricing for construction support services and performing construction cost analysis.
District Overview
Kiewit Power Constructors (KPC) provides direct-hire construction services for Power Generation utilizing a union craft force. Kiewit Power Constructors builds major EPC power plant and solar projects throughout North America
Location
This position is located in Lenexa, KS. Relocation may be offered.
Responsibilities
- Prepare construction indirect cost estimates ensuring all factors are properly considered, priced, and included in each estimate.
- Support project manager in development of project schedules
- Determine requirements for staffing, equipment, and temporary facilities
- Review project documents to develop a comprehensive understanding of the project
- Develop a plan for construction for each project
- Review all bid and contract documents and home office legal department opinions
- Review estimates prepared by other estimating groups or partners to determine completeness of data.
- Assist in collection and analysis of man-hour and cost information from past and on-going projects
- Keep current on various trends and developments, such as new equipment, methods, and procedures that are developing in the industry
- Prepare studies or reports required by the unusual bid items or conditions.
Qualifications
• Undergraduate or graduate degree in mechanical, electrical, civil or construction-related technology, OR extensive and related work experience leading to a thorough understanding of the knowledge, skills and abilities described above
• 5+ years of related construction experience, field or office.
• Extensive knowledge and demonstrated experience with complex EPC or bid/build projects
• Skilled in Blueprint reading
• Exceptionally strong attention to detail, communication, interpersonal and leadership skills
• Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office products (e.g. Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
• Experience in Bluebeam preferred
