Superintendent - Industrial (Mechanical, Building, Electrical)

Position Overview

Ganotec invites you to take on the impactful role of Superintendent, overseeing and directing a skilled team of Foremen and craft workers across multiple industrial project sites. In this pivotal leadership position, you will be responsible for the comprehensive planning, scheduling, budgeting, and quality assurance of construction operations, ensuring all activities align meticulously with project drawings and specifications. Your proactive leadership will foster strong partnerships with clients, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers, driving successful project delivery. Ganotec is a full service, heavy industrial contractor serving the industrial sector across Canada. Ganotec typically self performs all major disciplines including, civil, structural steel erection, heavy mechanical equipment installation, process piping and electrical / instrumentation and controls. We conduct our business through a variety of commercial contract styles including full turnkey, EPC, design build, T&M and conventional discipline packages. We have always been a strong proponent of “partnering”, working in collaboration with owners, major equipment suppliers and engineers at the early stages of the project development phase to allow for a more cost-effective execution strategy for the project. Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate crew activities to ensure efficient workflow and adherence to project timelines.
• Support the development and implementation of comprehensive project plans and schedules in collaboration with project management teams.
• Monitor daily operations within assigned disciplines, conducting thorough inspections to maintain quality, safety, and compliance standards.
• Deliver job site safety training and promote a culture of safety awareness among all personnel to minimize risks and incidents.
• Manage and control project budgets by enforcing cost control measures and proactively addressing potential financial impacts.
• Establish and enforce rigorous quality standards to ensure all work meets or exceeds contractual and regulatory requirements.
• Facilitate communication across teams, resolve operational challenges promptly, and adapt to changing project conditions with agility and professionalism.

Qualifications

• At least 8 years of progressive experience within the construction industry, including a minimum of 3 years in a superintendent or equivalent leadership role, preferably specializing in mechanical, electrical, building, structural, or piping disciplines.
• Demonstrated expertise in managing multiple technical trades simultaneously—such as steel erection, piping installation, and mechanical systems—evidencing a deep understanding of intricate construction processes and workflow coordination.
• Self-driven and proactive mindset capable of independent decision-making, with a track record of applying initiative to overcome complex site challenges effectively.
• Rapid adaptability to company-specific systems, policies, and software tools essential for efficient project oversight and reporting.
• Strong problem-solving aptitude with anticipatory thinking to address potential issues before they impact project progression.
• Excellent organizational capabilities combined with superior communication and interpersonal skills, enabling leadership of diverse teams and fostering collaborative relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
• Extensive leadership experience encompassing safety program management, contractual negotiation, detailed planning, and administrative oversight, ensuring projects are executed to high standards of efficiency and compliance.
