Position Overview

Ganotec is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Subcontracts Manager to join our team. The Subcontracts Manager will be responsible for overseeing the management of a subcontractor on the project, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures, and maintaining strong relationships with the subcontractor.

District Overview

Ganotec is a full service, heavy industrial contractor serving the industrial sector across Canada. Ganotec typically self performs all major disciplines including, civil, structural steel erection, heavy mechanical equipment installation, process piping and electrical / instrumentation and controls. We conduct our business through a variety of commercial contract styles including full turnkey, EPC, design build, T&M and conventional discipline packages. We have always been a strong proponent of “partnering”, working in collaboration with owners, major equipment suppliers and engineers at the early stages of the project development phase to allow for a more cost-effective execution strategy for the project. Location

This position will be based on the Union Station Project in Toronto, ON. 

Responsibilities

  • Subcontract Management: Oversee the subcontracting process from execution to closeout, including negotiation and administration of the subcontract.
  • Compliance: Ensure all subcontracting activities comply with company policies, legal requirements, and industry standards.
  • Risk Management: Collaborate on mitigating risks associated with subcontracting activities, including financial, legal, and performance risks.
  • Vendor Relations: Develop and maintain strong relationships with the subcontractor, ensuring clear communication and effective collaboration.
  • Cost Control: Monitor and control subcontract costs, ensuring projects are completed within budget.
  • Performance Monitoring: Track and evaluate subcontractor performance, addressing any issues or concerns promptly and support scheduling efforts to achieve milestones
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all subcontracting activities, including contracts, amendments, and correspondence.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with the client, project managers, procurement teams, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of subcontracting activities into overall project plans. Participate in design coordination activities. 

 

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Engineering or equivalent experience working with commercial building systems (HVAC, building mechanics)
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in subcontract management, preferably in the construction or engineering industry.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Ability to travel and relocate as needed once the project comes to an end  #LI-IS1
