The Area Manager will have overall accountability for one or more projects and play a key leadership role as the representative for Kiewit. You will be a key player in growing our Industrial market within Ganotec. This an exciting opportunity where you will get to execute a business plan from the ground up, develop new team members and lead the construction of landmark projects which will impact society for generations to come.


This position will be based out of Oakville, ON 

District Overview

Ganotec is headquartered in Montreal and is a full service, heavy industrial contractor serving the industrial sector across Canada.  Since 2007, Ganotec has joined the Kiewit Family of companies, and we primarily perform heavy industrial  projects specializing in oil & gas/petrochemical, heavy oil, mining, power generation, pipe fabrication, tank assembly and repair.  Ganotec  conducts its business through a variety of commercial contract styles including full turnkey, EPC, design build, T & M and conventional discipline packages. 


  • Develop a vision and execute a strategic plan for Ganotec leading new project scopes
  • Provide oversight and be accountable for Canada projects, both on the get work and build work side and ensure business needs are valid and correctly prioritized.
  • Provide ‘championship' for infrastructure projects, selling and marketing the area throughout the organization 
  • Oversee the whole project management process from approving project deliverables to initiating project reviews and ensure risk are continuously assessed and mitigated
  • Identify potential conflicts or issues and facilitate solutions (e.g. resource loading, priority clashes)
  • Build strong relationship with other Operational Leaders of Canada  and foster effective teamwork between leadership and staff
  • Communicate effectively with all stakeholders including clients, vendors and subcontractors
  • Act as a spokesperson for the organization in community and industry activities to enhance the Districts community profile


  • At least 15+ years’ related experience building or estimating heavy civil construction and infrastructure projects
  • Ideally have a Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or similar
  • Experience leading multi-million-dollar contracts, including ownership of operations, project administration, client relations and all other scopes relative to large construction projects
  • Competent in the use of computer software applications used for project control and administration, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Outlook
  • Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiative
  • Strong work ethic, willing to do what it takes to get the job done right the first time
