Position Overview

Ganotec is hiring an Procurement Manager to establish and lead supply chain management, logistics and materials management practices. This new position will enable you to contribute to the success of the company as it continues to position itself for the future, constantly seeking opportunities for growth without ever losing sight of what has made it a success. You will be responsible for directing and managing the purchasing of technical equipment, subcontracts, professional services, and more.

Ganotec is a full service, heavy industrial contractor serving the industrial sector across Canada. Ganotec typically self performs all major disciplines including, civil, structural steel erection, heavy mechanical equipment installation, process piping and electrical / instrumentation and controls. Location

This position is based in Pointes-aux-Trembles, Montréal, Québec.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and plan all aspects of purchasing from pre-bid to closeout.
  • Represent company in negotiating contracts and formulating policies with suppliers, subcontractors and professional service providers. 
  • Negotiate commercial terms and conditions with equipment vendors, material vendors, professional service providers and subcontractors; consult with corporate attorneys and senior management 
  • Monitor and oversee execution of the purchasing buy-out. 
  • Direct and coordinate activities of personnel engaged in buying and/or estimating materials, equipment, subcontract and professional services. 
  • Oversee staff training.
  • Locate and assist in the evaluation and qualification of vendor materials and equipment, subcontractors, and professional service providers.  
  • Process requisitions and prepare purchase orders for supplies and equipment. 
  • Assist in the development and implementation of procurement and contract management instructions, policies and procedures. 
  • Maintain records of goods ordered and received. 
  • Provide feedback to assist in analyzing market and delivery systems to assess present and future material availability. 
  • Resolve vendor or contractor grievances and claims. 
  • Review purchase order or subcontractor claims and contracts for conformance to company policy. 
  • Oversee administration of online purchasing systems. 
  • Communicate and enforce purchasing policies & procedures to project team.
  • Provide training to ensure policies and procedures are followed.
  • Responsible for projections, financial planning, expediting, delivery schedules and project purchasing reporting. 
  • Oversee the development and review of all procurement analytics, reporting and deliverables.

Qualifications

  • Experience as a project procurement manager or construction and heavy industry manager with a proven track record of project completion. Experience in hydropower projects is a major asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel) and general knowledge of database use Experience with SAP is an asset.
  • Must have a bachelor's degree in construction management, administration, engineering, supply chain management or equivalent, or a minimum of five (5) years' experience in engineering or construction, or equivalent work, military or related experience. 
  • Familiarity with standard engineering, procurement and construction equipment and materials
  • Hydropower experience strongly preferred
  • Detail-oriented, flexible and highly motivated, demonstrating a strong work ethic and professional demeanor 
  • Ability to implement supply management and logistics processes
  • Ability to organize and manage time effectively
  • Ability to perform a multitude of tasks efficiently and accurately
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate ideas orally and in writing
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently to meet deadlines, goals and objectives.
  • Must possess strong leadership and people management skills
  • Functional knowledge of English (written and verbal) is considered as an asset since mobility across provinces in Canada is required. Lessons can be provided as needed. #LI-GH
