Position Overview

The Senior EPCM Project Manager is a highly visible position responsible for engineering monitoring, procurement, construction and startup oversight for industrial mining and mineral processing facilities for EPCM contract values in excess of 1 billion dollars. This person must be fluent in both French and English, as this position is based out of Montreal, Quebec.
As the Senior EPCM Project Manager, you will work with various Project Management team members to manage the engineering, procurement, and startup of complex heavy industrial EPCM projects and have direct owner relations responsibility. This is an exciting opportunity to oversee major estimating projects and carry the overall ownership of the estimate once the job is won and moves to production. Should be comfortable juggling several deliverables at once and with the occasional quick turnaround as this is a hands-on position.

This position is based out of Montreal, Quebec.


  • Manage operations through estimates, proposal, award, design and start up.  
  • Oversee and direct project teams by providing communication, coordination and follow-up to meet project goals and objectives; ensure project scope or work, schedule and budget are clearly defined and understood;
  • Projects include both engineering design as well as construction execution. Expect to be involved with projects from the concept/bid/planning phase through final execution, start-up, commissioning, and turnover. 
  • Manage and motivate staff to maximum productivity and cost control, and facilitate and conduct scheduling, safety, and training meetings/workshops.
  • Establish project procedures consistent with contractual documents and quality plans for all engineering work; determine and oversee all project controls, schedules and budgets.
  • Serve as project representative with client, constructor, subcontractors, and vendors at kick-off meetings, job walks, project review, and other meetings and correspondence.
  • Review performance guarantees, engineering tracking, project progress reporting, and identify and put plans in place to address where a project needs additional focus.  
  • Coordinate training and compliance measures to ensure project procedures are followed.
  • Identify and secure necessary approvals for all changes in project scope, budget and/or schedule.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with client, making adjustments as necessary to comply with client needs within contractual obligations, or adjust project deliverables to meet client and Kiewit needs.
  • Ensure all work products are consistent with industry standards and in accordance with good engineering practice and applicable codes, and in compliance with all pertinent legal codes and requirements.
  • Provide ongoing training and mentoring to Project Managers and engineers to promote employee development. 
  • Oversee engineering fundamentals and practices to track and budget progress with project milestones.


  • At least 15 years’ experience in managing engineering, procurement, construction and startup of industrial mining and mineral processing facilities
  • Major project management experience on projects of at least $500 million or more
  • Must be fluent in both French and English
  • Degree in Engineering, or similar type experience in a related position that provides the knowledge and experience required for this position
  • Must be in the Montreal area, or be willing to relocate to site/Montreal
  • Prior experience as Project Manager, Engineering Manager, Startup Manager, of multidiscipline teams, where responsibilities include construction, procurement, engineering, estimating, contracts management, and owner relations
  • Knowledge of principles of complex EPC project design, analysis, and planning
  • Knowledge of EPC standards including scheduling, contracts, coordinating and managing all disciplines and subcontractors
  • Team building leader, with strong planning and organizational skills; adept in engineering and operations including design, contracts, negotiations, estimating, project controls, and dispute resolution. 
  • Proficiency in planning and management of scope of work and time estimation
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills at the executive level
