Position Overview

Kiewit is looking for a Pre Construction/Construction Manager that can lead various projects more than $500 million for vertical buildings in the Advanced Technology Facilities (ATF) markets of semiconductor, data center, and battery manufacturing facilities. Duties will include but are not limited to leading a team of estimators, participating in, and implementing win strategies, preparing conceptual estimates using historical and current market data and metrics, presenting estimates to executive management and clients, reading and interpreting documents, solicitating subcontractors, analyzing drawings and specifications, providing lowest cost design options for the lowest cost installation of construction, value management, reviewing and assisting with proposals, and other duties as required to prepare cost estimates/proposals for various types of work, including self-perform.

Our Kiewit Industrial division is a rapidly growing team, is a multi-faceted and leading-edge division of Kiewit with best-in-class technical expertise focused on EPC and design-build delivery of industrial projects in markets such as Advanced Technology Facilities (Data Centers), Food & Beverage, Mineral Processing, Renewable Fuels, Pulp and Paper, Steel & Aluminum, Industrial Buildings, and Industrial Energy, Water and Utilities.  

 

Location

This position is based out of Lenexa, KS and will be assigned to an initial 3 year project in Mount Pleasant, WI.  . Job site is Mount Pleasant, WI. 

Responsibilities

•    Provide oversight and direction to estimators and engineers in the development phase of a collaborative contract model.
•    Participate in task force meetings with the designer and bring constructability to the project solution.
•    Developing the logic behind the project schedule (sequencing works)
•    Communicate and present detail to executive management, permitting agencies, stakeholders, owners, etc. 
•    Analyze drawings and specifications to evaluate risks and opportunities. 
•    Reviewing and assisting with proposals and working with the estimating team for various components of the work to evaluate the best value for money/options.  
•    Support the selection of key subcontractors and trade partners.  Lead and guide Construction efforts through responsible Superintendents, Field Engineers and Project Engineers. 
•    Demonstrate excellent collaborative behaviors in a multi-stakeholder environment and foster a culture of innovation.

 

Qualifications

•    Undergraduate or graduate degree in construction management, construction engineering, or other engineering disciplines. Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or construction-related technology and 10 plus years of construction management experience or at least 15 years of construction management experience if no degree, with the ability and experience developing and leading estimates and construction teams in self-performed construction. 
•    Ability to generate conceptual estimates for the Advance Technology Facilities market.  Experience with Pre-Construction/Construction Management activities in the Advanced Technology market for large scale facilities (ideally $500M and above), (Data centers, hyperscale facilities, AI facilities, Semi-conductor facilities for example) is preferred
•    Ability to lead estimates and multiple teams.
•    Strong work ethic, willing to do what it takes to get the job done right the first time, with a strong safety and quality focus and record on past jobs.
•    Strong attention to detail; strong communication, interpersonal, leadership, and team-building skills.  Broad knowledge of construction of all disciplines.  
•    Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office products (e.g. Excel, Work, Outlook, PowerPoint)
•    Demonstrated leadership experience on complex construction projects.
