Position Overview

As a General Superintendent, you will be a field construction leader in a union craft construction environment. By managing productive relationships with union craft Foremen/General Foremen as well as with discipline Superintendents, Cherne staff and management and client representatives you'll bring the best of Cherne to the forefront. Safety and quality construction will be your key drivers.

•    Supervise discipline Superintendents and craft workers in heavy industrial construction
•    Managing the performance of productivity, safety, quality and schedule adherence. 
•    Utilize equipment, material, and labor in order to maximize production and minimize costs in the area of assigned responsibility.
•    Coordinate and interface effectively with craft leaders, staff superintendents  as well as Cherne staff personnel and leadership to ensure smooth workflow and schedule adherence. 
•    Resolve employee conflicts, grievances, and scheduling difficulties, informing project and corporate management as appropriate. 
•    Assist in schedule planning, determining craft labor levels, material quantities, equipment requirements, etc.
•    Ensure project rules, procedures and programs are followed consistently, including those involving safety, attendance, and workplace behavior standards as reflected in Company’s non-harassment and nondiscrimination policies

  • Fifteen or more years’ experience in union heavy construction with an emphasis on mechanical/piping aspects
  • Experience in labor and cost planning and budget
  • Ability to communicate effectively with project craft, staff and management
Working Conditions
  • Fast-paced project field environment; must be able to interact professionally with all levels      of management while simultaneously manage a diversified workload and challenging situations efficiently and effectively; regularly sit, stand, walk and talk and listen; occasionally lift and move up objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Travel or relocation in the U.S. to project areas as needed.
