We are looking for a Construction Manager with expertise in Water / Wastewater projects. You will be accountable for pre-execution planning, verifying construction packages, and responsible for all site execution matters, including self-perform and subcontracted labour supervision, ensuring production schedules are met while adhering to our strict safety and quality standards. 

Location

This position will support a Wastewater Treatment Plant project located in Whitehorse, YT.

District Overview

Kiewit’s Western Canada District is headquartered in Burnaby, British Columbia.  We primarily perform heavy civil projects specializing in earth moving, transportation, roadways, bridges, water resources, and underground utilities. Our current opportunities are spread across the entire West Coast of Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with environmental, health and safety policies, regulations, and acts. 
  • Demonstrate leadership to all parties on site (in a remote camp setting) including managing field resources and all sub trades to complete their portion of work safely, on-time and to an acceptable standard of quality. 
  • Developing site work schedules 
  • Organizing and presiding over regular safety meetings 
  • Maintaining a safe, organized, and clean site. 
  • Manage contract administration (subcontractor/field management meeting for communication)
  • Maintain good client relations involving staff on site.
  • Initiate and attend supplementary and regular meetings with client for problem resolution and planning.
  • Oversee and approve the monthly job cost updates and quarterly cash flow projections. 
  • Review, approve and negotiate change orders.
  • Develop and implement a plan for project completion and turnover.
  • Maintain daily diary for record keeping purposes.
  • Ensure that all performance evaluations and completed in a timely fashion for direct reports.
  • Recommend, where appropriate, organizational, policy and procedural or staff changes

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience with on-site coordination and management of multiple subcontractors and suppliers, control of work areas and quality control on large-scale and complex water and wastewater treatment plant projects.   
  • Demonstrated experience in working on construction projects in Northern and/or remote settings including problem solving and working with multiple construction crews.  
  • Valid certification as First Line Supervisor or Equivalent 
  • 15 years or more of demonstrated onsite experience of onsite coordination and management of multiple subcontractors and suppliers.  
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field such as construction management, engineering, or architecture.

Base Compensation: 150,000 - 180,000 

  • Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location
