Position Overview

We are adding a Payroll Processing Coordinator to our high performing payroll team.  In this role, you will support the processing of US and Canada payroll including, but not limited to, processing weekly payroll, administering off-cycles, stop payment requests, direct deposit reversals and interacting with field personnel to provide the highest level of customer service. District Overview

Kiewit Business Services (KBS) is a cross-functional shared service organization that provides the business units with customer-specific services focused on cost and business value.  Our services include non-core, yet essential, functions of our businesses including accounts payable, accounts receivable, change control, human capital management, payroll, project initiation, compliance, and continuous improvement. 

Location

This position is currently based out of our Kiewit Business Center at 12720 I Street but will be moving to our new location at 7700 Eastpoint Parkway, La Vista, NE by mid 2024.  This is a shared service center in a professional office setting.  

Responsibilities

  • Process weekly payrolls (Monday and Tuesday evenings, and Thursday afternoon) 
  • Perform Pay Card Administration, Paycheck and Direct Deposit reversals, direct Deposit Rejection research and processing, handle stop Payment requests
  • Handle Off-cycle processing of checks like severance pay, leave and military pay, settlements,
  • Validate direct deposit files to bank 
  • Maintain overhead employee payroll information and manage outstanding payroll checks 
  • Payroll system steward; responsible for setting the weekly payroll calendars 
  • Create journal entries, as needed 
  • Field phone calls, emails and ticketing requests from field operations, providing support and guidance using your payroll knowledge 
  • Provide excellent customer service to all internal and external Kiewit departments; understand Kiewit’s core business and promote a sense of urgency toward business-critical issues 
  • Follow processes, procedures, and internal controls 
  • Communicate and collaborate with team members to achieve excellence in Payroll Processing 
  • Work a rotational schedule which does require overtime several days per month  
  • Support and participate in collaboration activities to promote and implement continuous process improvement 
     

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of office support experience in the following preferred:  computer data entry, reviewing data and dealing with internal customers.  
  • Prefer Payroll experience or experience with accounting functions.  Able to learn and execute accounting and payroll functions
  • Must have strong understanding and working knowledge of computers and proficient with MS Suite
  • Experience utilizing Excel with experience in some advanced functions (Vlookup, Formulas, Formatting and manipulating data)
  • Experience with SAP or similar system preferred
  • Must have a strong attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies and thoroughness in completing tasks 
  • Demonstrates initiative to jump in and get the job done, and able to work in a fast paced, high volume, transactional environment  
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills 
  • Apply discretion and maintain confidentiality  
  • Ability to analyze information and use logic and reasoning to solve problems, and identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems 
  • Ability to develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish your work
