Position Overview

Kiewit’s Supply Chain and Contracts Managers oversee the efficient and cost-effective delivery of materials and services for our projects. This position requires someone with a strong background in procurement and supply chain management, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, with effective team leadership skills.

In this role, you provide leadership for procurement of engineered equipment, subcontracts, professional services, commodities, permanent plant materials, and small tools and supplies. You will lead your team in interfacing with engineering management, estimating management and site management, to negotiate with equipment vendors, material vendors, subcontractors, and service providers.

Location

This position is based full-time in our Oakville office. 

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and plan all aspects of supply chain from pre-bid, through estimating to closeout.
  • Develop and implement procurement strategies and best practices to optimize costs, mitigate risks, and ensure timely delivery of materials and services. 
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure high-quality products and services are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Lead contract negotiations with suppliers and subcontractors to secure favorable terms and conditions while minimizing risks to the organization. Negotiate commercial terms and conditions with equipment vendors, material vendors, professional service providers and subcontractors; consult with corporate attorneys and senior management to minimize project and corporate risk while maintaining commercial competitiveness.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline and optimize the supply chain process to improve efficiency, reduce lead times, and enhance overall project performance.
  • Assess and mitigate risks associated with procurement activities, including supplier performance, supply chain disruptions, and contractual obligations.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements related to procurement, supply chain management, and contract administration. Monitor the execution of the procurement buy-out. 
  • Collaborate with project managers and finance teams to develop and manage procurement budgets, forecasts, and cost reports. Reviews purchase order or subcontractor claims and contracts for conformance to company policy. 
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance procurement processes, systems, and tools to support business objectives and drive operational excellence. 
  • Mentor and train supply chain staff to ensure policies and procedures are followed.

Qualifications

  •  
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, business, engineering, supply chain management, or equivalent. 
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in procurement, supply chain management, and contract administration within the construction and engineering, with 3+ years’ experience in a supervisory role.
  • Knowledge of equipment and materials common in Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) projects.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented, flexible and highly motivated with a strong work ethic and professional demeanor. 
  • Team player with the ability to also work independently to meet fixed deadlines, goals and objectives.
