Position Overview

Solar Commissioning Manager will work under the direction of the Commissioning Director and report directly to the Project Manager while on-site. The Commissioning Manager is responsible for all aspects of solar farm commissioning, including personnel safety, overseeing daily commissioning activities, reviewing start-up schedules, and communicating with the owner, management, and contractors. Promote and provide leadership for Safety. Direct and coordinate the daily start-up activities with vendors and construction craft. Assume direct responsibility for all components and systems integrity for completing contractual requirements with the highest degree of safety and quality.

Location

This position is located in Lenexa, KS with flexibility for hybrid work.

Responsibilities

•    Develop Project Site-Specific Commissioning Manual
•    Read and adhere to Startup Administration Manual.
•    Develop and manage overall Startup schedules (P6, 90 Day, 3 Week)
•    Setup and manage Startup budgets and forecasting. Labor, subcontracts, STS
•    Coordinate between all parties involved with commissioning through daily and weekly meetings, i.e., daily POD meetings & weekly Commissioning meetings (Construction, TFAs, 3rd Party Testers, Owner.)
•    Coordinate with the Performance Engineering team on Performance Testing and Substantial Completion timing
•    Develop and administer the site energization plan(s)
•    Leads and insists on strict adherence to Lock Out/Tag Out Procedures (LOTO) and policies.
•    Monitor and operate generation projects in compliance with applicable NERC reliability standards while adhering to Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) cyber and physical security measures at NERC registered plants.
•    Ensure that an organized documentation filing structure for all commissioning reports and documents is in place before starting testing and being maintained daily.
•    Review & implement SU staffing plan
•    Manage and oversee the commissioning budget
•    Coordinate with the customer Operations Center energization of circuits, as well as startup, shutdown, and curtailment
•    Coordinate with the customer Maintenance organization for PMs and CMs as needed
•    Prepare action plans to address gaps in the commissioning schedule/plan.
•    Track, review, and approve of all Startup Lessons Learned, Condition Reports, and Best Practices.

Qualifications

•    8 to 10 years of experience in commissioning and start-up PV solar plants
•    Thorough understanding of all aspects of solar PV systems and associated SCADA controls
•    Experience with Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) is an added advantage
•    Experience working with AC & DC Electricity, PV Systems, Trackers, Inverters, and AC collection Systems
•    Excellent teamwork skills, foster a positive team environment through the collaborative decision making
•    Excellent Communication skills (verbal & written)
•    Experience working collaboratively with people and initiatives affecting multiple organization
•    Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines and demanding customers
