Our rapidly growing Industrial Design Group, which includes process, electrical, controls, structural, architectural, geotechnical, and civil disciplines, is a multi-faceted and leading-edge division of Kiewit with best-in-class technical expertise focused on EPC and design-build delivery of industrial projects in markets such as Food & Beverage, Consumer Products, Heavy Manufacturing, Industrial Buildings Industrial Water and Utilities. We have specialized expertise in plant floor process design, packaging, refrigerated/frozen facility design, and ammonia refrigeration systems.

Responsibilities

•    Become familiar and confident in understanding the workflow required to estimate, bid, design, and construct buildings in an EPC (Engineer, Procure and Construct) environment.
•    Provide building electrical system designs on projects across multiple sectors – industrial, power, oil/gas/chemical, water, and power delivery.
•    Have a solid understanding of the National Electrical Code, the International Building Code, the International Energy Conservation Code, and a general understanding of the NFPA codes/guidelines related to building electrical systems.
•    Review RFP documents and prepare building electrical systems narratives for estimating and project proposals. 
•    Review and comment on accuracy of estimates, technically and commercially. 
•    Coordinate with multiple design disciplines during the design phase, including coordinating with plant/process electrical team for division of responsibilities (scope split).
•    Prepare production drawings and specifications for building electrical systems that will be used in deliverable packages sent to sub-contractors for bidding.
•    Perform necessary electrical calculations per standard electrical design practice.
•    Provide technical reviews of sub-contractor bids.
•    Perform construction administration tasks, including shop drawing review, RFI responses, regular sub-contractor meetings, and O&M reviews.
•    Verify the building electrical installation/construction compliance with engineering specification and plan requirements during site visits.
•    Check and navigate 3D models for review of interferences and constructability during design and construction administration.
•    Develop a thorough understanding of building electrical engineering and construction processes to assist in increasing efficiency and reducing construction costs.
•    Assist in creating and developing building electrical standards and tools

Qualifications

•    Bachelor’s degree in architectural engineering or electrical engineering.
•    E.I.T. with at least four years of experience in building electrical system engineering.
•    P.E. licensure a plus.
•    Experience in the industrial sector and with EPC (Engineer, Procure and Construct) contracts a plus.
•    Proficient in Revit, AGi32, Windows Office applications.
•    Experience with SKM PowerTools or ETAP a plus.
•    Self-starter that can proactively coordinate with various engineering design disciplines.
•    Good written and verbal communication skills.

Working Conditions

•    Fast-paced office environment; must be able to interact professionally with all levels of management while simultaneously manage a diversified workload and challenging situations efficiently and effectively; regularly sit, stand, walk and talk and listen; occasionally lift and move up objects up to 30 pounds.
•    Travel in the U.S. and internationally (5-15%).
