Position Overview
Kiewit Bridge and Marine (KBM) Proposal Group is seeking a Mid-Level Proposal Writer to join our team and play a key role in the development of non-technical and technical sections for proposals ranging in value from $50M to over $1B in project value, under the direction of the District Proposal Manager. The candidate must be comfortable working in a highly collaborative environment, have experience interviewing subject matter experts (SMEs) to gather non-technical and technical data, and possess a strong focus on the compliance of written text in response to the requirements outlined in requests for qualifications (RFQs) and requests for proposals (RFPs) from both government and private clients.

Location
This position is based out of our Federal Way Area Office – 33455 6th Ave. SE, Federal Way, WA 98003

Responsibilities
• Analyzes and interprets solicitation requirements (e.g., RFPs, RFIs, SOQ’s)
• Develops/coordinates proposal sections that are compliant with client’s objectives and requirements while incorporating strategic messaging
• Develops, edits, and implements style guides for proposals and other deliverables
• Works well with technical and non-technical SMEs to gather data and write compliant, compelling proposal content
• Maintains tight, proactive communication with proposal team and sponsors
• Participates in strategy and storyboarding sessions, and assists in incorporating win strategy, differentiators, compliance, and a clear understanding of the requirements and scope that are well-articulated and consistent throughout final deliverables.
• Assists Proposal Manager in preparing for proposal kick-off meetings, milestone reviews and recovery periods
• Assists in developing and maintaining best practices and templates, data platform and style guides
• Works with graphic designer to create graphics and visual persuasion
• Understands, implements, and reinforces proposal development policies, procedures, and protocols
• Ensures each product has an explicit focus, strong structure, and is written in a clear, easily understood, non-academic style, and that all content including headlines, graphics, and sidebars meet Kiewit’s multi-tiered quality assurance standards

Qualifications
• 5-10 years of experience in a combination of proposal, technical, or grant writing, or other related fields (experience in engineering/construction or similar industry strongly preferred)
• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing/Communications, Journalism, English, or equivalent
• Advanced knowledge and skills in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat
• Experience with Adobe Creative Suite including InDesign
• Exceptional attention to detail, organization and active listening skills
• Ability to balance and successfully complete multiple tasks simultaneously
• Solid communication skills both within core group and with internal clients
• Strong interviewing and editing/writing skills: thorough knowledge of grammar, spelling, and composition as well, oral communication, and interpersonal skills
• Self-motivated with ability to work well with professionals from various backgrounds
• Ability to deliver quality work that consistently meets requirements and deadlines
• A focus on teamwork –  ability to continually listen, collaborate, and communicate among colleagues, internal customers, and team partners
