Position Overview

As an Electrical Engineer, you will assist the Technical Engineering Department to design, configure, implement and maintain electrical and electronic Power and control systems on new marine vessel construction projects and our existing fleet of dredges and other marine equipment.

Location

This position is located in Houma, Louisiana.

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical resource to engineering, technical support, and field operations personnel
• Creates detailed system specifications, schematics, and designs
• Interprets and implements relevant regulations (USCG, OSHA, ABS, etc.) and technical guides (IEEE-45, NEC, etc.)
• Research technical information needed to evaluate system performance and application
• Maintains system documentation
• Services and maintains electrical and electronic equipment
• Provides remote and on-site troubleshooting
• Attends meetings, writes reports, and prepares necessary documents
• Other duties as assigned by management

 

Qualifications

• Strong analytical abilities to research and evaluate new and existing equipment, operations, and processes
• 3-5 YOX in large equipment engineering or construction projects, knowledge or larger vessel equipment is preferred. 
• Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude to understand industrial processes and equipment
• Capable of thriving in a fast paced, multiple concurrent project environment
• Ability to organize workload for timely accomplishment of work
• Responsive to equipment run-time and productivity needs
• Possess strong computer skills
• Ability to travel to near-shore jobsites
• Occasionally travel (primarily domestic) and perform field service
• Occasionally work after hours and weekends
• Self-driven, honest, energetic, productive, precise, professional, and have positive attitude
• Clean driving record
• BS in Electrical Engineering

Desired Experience
• Any level experience will be considered
• AC and DC variable speed motor control hardware and software configuration
• AC and DC electric motors and generators
• Marine power system design
• Control system design
• Generator controls, including voltage and speed regulators and load sharing control systems
• Programmable Logic Controller hardware and programming
• Diesel engines and control/monitoring systems
• Mechanical power transmission components (gearboxes, clutches, shafts, couplings, etc.)
• Centrifugal pumps
• Hoists
• Hydraulics
• Instrumentation and signal interface
• Electronics
• Industrial networks and communications (TCP/IP, Modbus, etc.)
• Developing written proposals and project estimates
